I'm hoping Abreu does well. I'd love to see him turn it around, and I'll cheer for him.... BUT he needs to do it with a different team.

More fuel to the fire:

He couldn't field a 9u pop-up a month ago. A routine pop-up that I wouldn't let my 13u son live down. How the **** is he going to field tough plays?

I think we should call up the Mets and offer Abreu for Bobby Bonilla straight up.

There's a real sad stat. Guy has earned a spot on the field, and you give it to clowns like Abreu.

That's what makes this all the more comical

We are coming off a winning streak, and in the most important series they not only bring Abreu up, but they start him in both games.

I do not believe that this was anything other than Espada's decision, if true. There wouldn't have been any stipulations to play him. And if Espada doesn't get to construct the lineup like Dusty did, then he's just a powerless yes man and we deserve to lose to show, once again, that Crane is NOT a good active manager for his baseball team.

Yet Espada screws with our momentum and plays the new pet, who we all know is no good, showed no signs of being good while he was in Florida, yet suddenly "HE'S BACK!"

This isn't a surprising result. A truly intelligent manager would have selectively used him, probably not during this series at all, but in future game series when we have a commanding lead, and maybe platooned him against lefties on the odd start to see how he does.

He's the worst ******* WAR in the majors and a big reason why our team is garbage. He can't defend. He can't hit. He can be embarrassed ALL he wants collecting the next $40M dollars on a permanent vacation back to Cuba where he belongs.

Reporter: "Should Jose make that play at first?"

!00%. The last game Angel called for us behind the dish, was pretty damn good. I can't remember anything Abreu has ever done that was good.

Don't think I'll be checking back in much until I hear the coaching staff has had a shuffle at the very least. And/or Abreu is DFA'd or a trade for some prospects is made.

AL East and Central races are the only interesting baseball to follow right now, which is a painful thing to have be reality.

Man if Espada and Brown are just Yes Men for Crane then this window is gonna shut real quick, ain't no way some of these guys are going to want to resign and stay here why would they? And once the rest of the league players find out they won't come down here either.

This was so predictable. After Abreu was sent down and Loperfido was brought up you could see the vibe was different in a positive way. Players were playing with more energy despite Sleepy Joe at the helm, Singleton was doing a good job at first , Dubon was hitting and producing, and Tucker and Meyers were punishing the ball.
Then management decides to not only bring Abreu back, but put him back in the lineup immediately. What a bad signal to the team - do we want to win or not?
Daz may need to take some time off - Caratini should probably be the primary catcher until Daz gets his head straight again.

Abreu physically looks good. Mentally he's good. That was a hard hit ball, almost impossible for anyone of Abreu's age to block.

4.66 season ERA for an 8th inning setup guy is way beyond "sometimes you aren't going to be sharp"

Dude is ass this year. Thats the 4th time his personal meltdown turned a W into the L, and that's not counting the games we were close or tied and he out them out of reach. Thats just the games he took us from winning to losing in less than 3 outs.

Dubon has a .778 OPS this year, behind only the big 3 + Jake and Joey, and two Gold Gloves from last year and can't even sniff the field with a guy hitting .100. This is not a serious organization as long as we continue run Abreu out there. Bench him, cut him, anything.

He's not the issue. Is he having his best year? Nope, but it's not 100% on him. This team is dysfunctional from the top down. The game is tough enough without the mismanagement.

if the Astros don't beat Kirby or Gilbert...

they'll come home 7 games back...and 9 games under

won't get to .500 by the end of June

which means it's time to be a seller at the trade deadline

Wow, Press throwin the subtle shade and I love it! "Did the walk to the 9 hole hurt" "Nah, double play was still in order"

Something close to this on the error: "Hit it down the line and had some bad luck with it. It happens"

You could tell he was pissed that he got zero help. Some of that is on him as well. Lead off walks and hits hurt.

The pitching coaches need to be gone - that stat that was shown in the first inning tonight regarding the Astro pitching staff being dead last in MLB in their performances in the first inning was telling.

Too much bull**** this season not about winning games but rather catering to egos despite poor performance, namely Abreu, Bregman, and Pressly.

At least last year with Dusty we had some margin of error (though slight) for making baffling and stupid decisions.

We have no such luxury this year. Every game series we cater to the back of the baseball card is one step closer to being completely out of playoff contention even if we manage to have a stellar second half.

And the decisions being made this year are arguably worse, because they are are enormously obvious given the gravity of our current situation and we have better alternatives that are being sent down to AAA or benched.

7 games back and unlikely to land a wild card spot? Ouch. Very difficult to really salvage the season unless we magically start a massive winning streak run.

Need to start the extension discussions with Tucker and give him some very serious offers. If he declines your best and final offer, then you need to trade him before the deadline because without Tucker we do not seem to have a contending team for the immediate future, and if you're going to do a re-boot you might as well trade some of our other pieces. Trade Framber as well, and hope his performance can get better as we progress to the deadline so his value gets raised. If Justin Verlander is still vintage JV, trade him to another team because he's gone either this year or next year anyways.

Unfortunately nobody will want Bregman or Abreu's bum asses.

Losing Brent was a bigger loss than losing AJ. How the hell do you let Strom just walk to the D-bags? I Crane! Just like he let Click walk with his insulting one year contract, to force him out, because Crane knows better.

I think Strom just wanted to be closer to home in Arizona, not much you can do about that.

Money and respect goes a long way. Arizona isn't that far from Texas. If you really want to retire, you retire. They let him walk. I could be wrong, but he was treated the same way as Click.

Sadly odds were one of the 3 big relief guys would have a down year. Hader and Abreu have been really solid after slow starts but Pressly is just too inconsistent this year

Its been time for over a month to move Pressly to the middle. Abreu and Hader should now be the 8/9. I'd rather have any of the other relievers as the 7. Pressly is washed.

Pressly's FIP is below 3 so I don't think he's washed. This team just always seems to get in its own way. They do just enough to lose games.

1-4 against Seattle

It is entirely possible that at the end of the season our record against them will be the difference in losing the division.
