Cabrera was super out of shape though in those seasons. Hopefully Jose stays slimmed down

Curious as to what the going rate should have been? I know you look at a lot of stats that would probably factor into that line of thinking? Something like 5 years 100 mill?

Just looked it up. Last year hurt, but if he can stay healthy and play 140 games a year, it's about average for him. Especially since he averages another 14ish hits each post season in the playoffs on top of it.
People also forget he lost almost a full season worth of hits to Covid.

I'm at the ball fields with my middle kiddo. But I'd guess this is probably the richest contract given to someone entering his age 34 season.

Altuve's extension actually adds a little bit to his future AAV. I was hoping we could save a little. But happy we got him signed.

I probably have 20+ signed Larry Anderson cards. Seemed like he would always get some people every game. My dad was down on the railing with me one game with my baby sister (probably 3ish). He came over, signed my card and got my sister from my dad and carried her onto the field to meet like 10 players. She doesn't remember it of course but I remember being so damn jealous of her for years.

Love signing Jose. The deal is fair on both sides. What is interesting to me is how much longer he can play 2B. Now that he has his money and doesn't have the pressure of searching for a deal, he could theoretically start moving to another position anytime. Wouldn't mind him getting time in LF next season, maybe even some this season to get Dubon time at 2B.
