Those drop 5s with the 2-3/4 barrel were unreal. I still have one somewhere. I need to bust it out.
They were generally -4 for a while. I still have my original Easton B5 (ie- the Easton "Green") that I played with in HS in the early/mid-90's. It's a 33"/29oz. I also had one of the first carbon Easton Black Magic bats that was a 35"/31oz but threw it away a few years ago because it was cracked to hell.
It was around 1994-1995 or so, IIRC, that the first really stupid hot bats came out. Louisville Slugger had their TPX that was all white. That was when they went to the -5 that were just scary hot. At that time really Easton and Louisville Slugger were the only bats around. If Marucci or DeMarini were out they were very, very limited production. First I was ever aware of those brands was in softball.
But, yeah those bats from like 1993'ish to maybe 2005 were insane. About the same time Berkman had that season didn't Daylan Holt hit like 40 HR one year? I remember a game vs. t.u. where we beat them like 24-19 or something and there were nukes leaving the yard left and right.
