Gallen has given up 11 ER in 22 1/3 this post season. He overall since we faced him in August has been more like a 2nd or 3rd starter. We dodged a bullet not facing Wheeler and Nola.
The small ball and situational hitting is what AZ has killed everyone with. Before last night, the only over .300 hitter in the playoffs for them was Marte. If we have our offense show up this shouldn't be a stressful series. If we start slumping this could go either way.

The Rangers from a brand perspective are just an average MLB team, and the D-Backs even less than that (maybe the least in the MLB). However, the Rangers have superstar players at all levels of their team in Seager, Semien, Adolis, Scherzer, Chapman, and even guys who I think will develop into that level of player. On the other side is where the D-Backs fall off a cliff. I think Corbin Carroll is a stud and will be an MVP caliber player for a long time, but this is his first real year in the MLB. Ketel Marte is a really solid to good middle infielder, but he's not a superstar. Zach Gallen is a stud I would take on my team any day, but he's not at the "drawing eyeballs" level either. On top of all of that the D-Backs play a "boring" brand of baseball outside of stealing bases. So even though I am excited for this and its nice having new teams in the World Series, I do understand why ratings and interest would be down across the country, ESPECIALLY on the D-Backs side.

I don't think the Diamondbacks power should be overlooked. They have 4 guys with 24+ HR in Reg Season all with a BA over .261 (Walker, Marte, Carroll, & Gurriel Jr.)

Got me curious. They did see Sherzer once this year in July pitching for the Mets.he gave up 4 ERs on 6.0 IP with 9 KS and 2 BBs. He did get the win though.

Won the division in '15 and '16, lost to Toronto both times in the DS. After that finished 4th and 5th in the division in the next 2 seasons. I think it was basically time at that point.
Banister was brought in to be more of the hardass coach after Wash. He was okay, but the analytics part of the game passed him by.

JD was implementing a 3 Outcome model for the entire Rangers organization. Bannister was on board with the strategy which made him attractive to manage the team.
JD wanted to use the "Opener" like Tampa used. JD also toyed with the idea of a 6-Man rotation.
JD also decided that HS draft picks would not throw games their 1st year in order to build core body strength which he believed would reduce the number of TJs.
All 4 were failures. 3 Outcomes gave us the new Odor, Mazara, and Gallo who struck out at a 35+% rate. Guys like Hamels rejected the 6-Man rotation. Almost all of the HS Ps drafted that didn't pitch had to have TJ.
With the new structure of the Minors... 6 game series to reduce travel and a constant day off on day 7 has likely moved player mentality towards a 6 man rotation. Japan uses such.
At the end, Bannister was a player's coach that added very little to the team, much like his Pitching Coach Doug Brocail.
