That's bad ass. How'd the crowd treat ya?

Honestly it wasn't bad. I had worries because I had my wife with me but didn't have any issues.

Jose LeClerc - Does he remind anyone else of Neftali Feliz back in 2010-2011? Both a little wild at times, but tough to hit. Good closers, but still make your nervous. LeClerc may actually have a little better stuff than Feliz had.

Had that exact thought last night.

Good morning and happy gameday!

Yesterday was a blast, let's run it back this afternoon and head home up 2-0! Playoff Nate Eovaldi on the mound in the juice box this afternoon looking to get it done

I was getting major Neftali-vibes watching him in the 9th. Neftali probably had slightly better stuff and was definitely more of an easy motion, but it seems like we'll get the same high velocity, high risk-high reward type of 9th innings as we did in 10-11.

They are both similar in their look and build, but stuff is nothing alike. Feliz could touch 100 on his fastball and had his secondary off-speed pitches would back-breaking because of that.

LeClerc has done an excellent job for us this year, but he has to have his off-speed setup his fastball and even then his best pitch (slider) relies heavily on players chasing.

I'm glad the rest of the league hasn't caught on yet, but the best route to take with LeClerc is simply not to swing at the slider because it's out of the strikezone most of the time.

I guarantee you a good number of the Astros posters on this board screenshot your post and emailed it to astros@mlb.com as fast as their little sausage fingers could type.

Their players don't even understand tagging up, pitch recognition is not something they'll get to before year's end.

I'm sorry if it did happen. That's not good. I think the last thing on my mind would be to run home and post about it on Texags.

Obese Framber pitches today. Feels like it's been forever since we've seen a lefty. It kind of neutralizes Carter and probably puts Grossman into the mix.

We really need something from Semien soon. What is the deal with all of those foul pop outs? The Astros don't have a huge foul ball area, but it feels like Bregman and abreu caught 10 foul balls between them.

Just a sign that the P is preventing hitters from getting good wood on the ball.

Verlander pitched a great game. Monty just out-pitched him.

This can't be true because he was the losing pitcher of game 1 of 2011 ALCS with Detroit. Maybe that stat is with Houston only?

I thought I remembered him getting knocked around that game.
I thought the stat was that he'd won six straight Game 1 starts.
I heard it was ALCS Game 1 starts.
Either way, Texas tagged him in Game 1 of the ALCS in 2011.

I just chalk that up to Verlander being a really good pitcher.

The dude's been really streaky this year. Hasn't been great of late, but when the switch flips, he can be nigh unhittable.

Jared Sandler was talking about the possibility of that on his post game show last night. But he said Carter may have earned his shot at a lefty at this point. But strictly because of the fact that he is so patient at the plate and FF loses his composure when he walks people. He can start snowballing out of control like the fat little snowball he is.

Framer neutralizes Carter from an offensive standpoint bit I've seen enough of Grossman to know I want Carter in LF all day, everyday. Plus, when the bullpen comes in (could be early with fat Framber on the mound) we'll likely see a right coming in which gets Cater back into the mix.

ETA: just checked the Astros playoff roster and they have zero lefties in the pen. I couldn't remember if they had any lefties out there.

6-0 in Game 1's with the Astros. Eight total starts.

Beat me by a minute but similar thoughts on Carter vs Grossman and Framber's issues. There will likely be a quick hook if Framber is struggling.

Regarding SP.

Heaney and Dunning were both called out for getting up in the bullpen. I think that was a little surprising, but may show Bochy/Maddux' hand. It could have been a routine bullpen session they scheduled to be during the game in the event they were necessary.

It could also signal Scherzer/Gray as the G3 and G4 SPs.

If the Rangers are split at 1-1, I go Scherzer G3. Extra energy, home game... adrenaline would be in the Rangers favor.

If the Rangers go up 2-0, I'd push Scherzer to G4. If we go 3-0, I'd push him to G5, if necessary.

I still think Scherzer is a relief option. He's not stretched out and I think he would be good in a high leverage situation.

It 100% depends on how Scherzer is feeling. If he would be active for a regular season game then I say he goes tomorrow. If he's only activated as an insurance piece I say wait until he's needed/ready to go. And there are too many fractures that go into the if needed.

I think having him come out if the bullpen is an awful idea. Historically he's been shelled when that happens…so that's one reason.

2…they talk about Scherzers mentality when he starts. He gets to the stadium and he's in the zone. Talks to no one but the catcher and pitching coach. Emotionless in the dugout. Then when he comes out of the game he goes back to normal.

Expecting him to turn that on in a moment doesn't play to his style or strengths.

Bochy has already said if he uses Scherzer he intends to use him as a starter. So I think the odds of him coming out of the bullpen are pretty slim.

I am nervous about him making his first start back from injury in a major playoff game, but if a future HOFer says he's ready to go then ya gotta trust him
