I got hit on the left elbow by 75 mph in Bronco league. Took about 15 - 30 seconds to pry the bat out of my left hand. Hand was locked shut. Stayed in the game though, but man did that hurt.Tksymm7 said:

Pretty sure I am out on Bradford, at least in a relief role. I just think his stuff plays better as a starter.

I like him in low leverage situations like this where he can eat up innings and save the pen. But damn does he make me nervous every time.

I was listening to a Rangers pre-game and Sandler was discussing the roles Smith and Chapman would play.
He indicated that they both bought into Bochy and were willing to play the role they got. Neither cared to be named the official Closer. That was just before Smith came in to pitch the 7th to put out a fire and IIRC, Chapman got the save.
There is something to be said to play the role you are called to play and not the one you want to play.

Speas - looks like he just loves the game. Has amazing perspective.
He has been throwing about 50% 4SFBs at 90-92. Sit on that and he'll get beat around.Tksymm7 said:

I think as a SP he plays better early because he mix the pitches early and gets a feel for his other pitches. As a RP, he won't get that latitude, especially with men on the bases. The problem is, 2nd... 3rd time through the order as a SP and he'll be over-exposed.
I'm thinking middle-reliever for now, maybe. With some time, I think he can settle into a back-of-the-rotation SP and have a nice career.
My concern is him getting too much exposure before the trade deadline and diminishing any trade value.
