Anderson was the only questionable part of that. Sborz couldn't hit the zone and had a bad outing.

It's tinkering because you're "shortening a game" that you have no need to shorten.

In 15 outings Heaney has thrown 95 innings or more 7 times, with a handful of 92/93's in there.

Had he run into real trouble in the 5th then the move would have been less questionable. But 2K's and a weak single was not trouble.

To bring in Grant Anderson to face 2/3/4 was just trying to get cute. Hell, even Chapman in that spot would have made more sense. Grant Anderson wasn't even a dominant minor league arm. He's a SSS guy that you don't overexpose.

Just a real dumb move by Bochy.

I am with Joe on this one. I find bringing Grant Anderson, who is a JAG, into that position to not be a good idea. I think this also raises the issue that we still really need another right handed reliever. Sborz is the only righty pitching well enough, but like we just saw, he can be very erratic and is someone I really don't want pitching 8th innings in pressure spots. We need a righty who throws hard and is comfortable pitching an 8th or a 9th inning.

Yes, but they are striking out at an astronomical rate right now. Teams have found out that: 1) they swing the bat a ton; and 2) they are both very poor against pitches up in the zone. I think it's a real issue for both as well. For instance, Jung last year was very poor in the plate discipline category, and swing and miss. He's still doing both of those a lot.

This is extremely disappointing. I was wondering the whole game where the hell is our offense?

I guess teams should start throwing a parade of #5 starters and no name minor leaguers at us and they'll shut us the **** down because that's what has happened in our 4 losses to the tigers and Astros this week.

Not to single Duran out, but he's killing us in this series. He usually gets the ball rolling at the bottom of the lineup, but he hasn't gotten a hit all series long which is very unusual for him. Guys behind him would get hits and it would've been impactful if Duran was on base, but we've gotten nothing from him against the Astros and it hurts.

Teams are throwing us a lot or ****ty ass pitches out of the zone and until we take walks, they will continue o throw those ****ty ass pitches while we get ourselves out. We have to ****ing adjust.

Loss to Detroit on Monday was a random mash up of 7 pitchers.

Loss to Detroit on Thursday random mash up of 6 pitchers

Loss to Houston on Friday was Blanco 4.80 era and 4 other pitchers

Loss to Houston today was Dubin and his 7.96 era at triple AAA sugarland and 5 other pitchers.


The above days scenarios are when good offenses are supposed to feast. We are in bad shape right now.

I know Boch is a big proponent of keeping guys in the same spot but he needs to change the order up. This offense has struggled long enough. It's not working.
