Looks like another team will be in the market for a SP this deadline.

I don't know... if you look at their rotation, IMO, the wheels are going to come off.

They have 2 SPs who have ever pitched over 150IP in one season. The need more than just 1 arm.

They could be out by the end of June.

Injuries are a part of the game and it sucks. I guess it's noteworthy because they were counting on him to come back in the 2nd half of the season. Hopefully both he and Degrom heal ok and come back ready to go next year.

Yeah, that sucks. Seems like he has had a decent number of injury issues over the years. His name always kind of sticks out since his dad was also a MLB pitcher. They've had a pretty impressive run in terms of developing home grown pitching talent. Not sure what they have left in AAA, but they may have to make a trade this time.

Yep. This is why I like our odds currently. Their success hinges a lot on a handful of players producing at a high level every night. (Framber, Javier, Alvarez, Altuve, Bregman, Tucker). Bregman and Altuve haven't really gotten going. Several holes in that line up and the rotation is largely unproven. I don't see how they sustain it.

RE: Bochy: one clutch hit with runners on base yesterday and we're talking about how deep this team is and how Bochy was great for boldly trusting his bench to get the job done. It was a gamble with decent odds and it just didn't work out. No biggie, on to Tampa (with a well rested team).

Alvarez left the Stros game tonight in the first inning. Something with his oblique. If he misses significant time the Astros are done.

Picked up a 1/2 game on our asses tonight. 5 game lead.

I hope it isn't serious. No need to give them excuses, and as much as I dislike the Astros, it's never good for baseball when a talent like that goes down.

Edited - I love watching Yordan as well, misspoke

Prophetic?

If Alvarez is lost for a couple weeks, we may need to do some wellness checks on that thread.

I freaking love Yordan. He's one of the best pure hitters of the baseball I've ever seen. Sucks that he's wearing an Astros jersey, but I could watch him swing a bat all day.

Same here, got nothing against Yordan. Seems like a class act and he's fun to watch. I hope he eventually leaves the Astros.

Agreed, I misspoke, meant to say I dislike the Astros, not Yordan.

If it's an oblique, he'll live. But i hope his side hurts for the next 6 months

I hate Framber tho. I watched the Astros vs jays game and he was throwing a tantrum out on the field because things weren't going his way. He was all over the place and the jays got to him for some runs. He just comes across as a fat cry baby, but he's still a really good pitcher.

Astros thread is in total meltdown mode. Some of them are saying they "should've swept the jays".

Yordan is one of the best hitters in all of baseball right now. He has generational talent and somehow the stros got him for a little Caesars pizza and a pack of soda.

This is important. If we can get Hernandez back to anything close to what he was pre-TJ, he can help the Ranger bullpen. His velo seems to be there, but his overall command hasn't been. Maybe he can find it again in AAA.

The jays broadcast (which is 10x better than our terrible crew) mentioned how the Astros went into Latin America and got several pitchers who had talent, but other teams passed on for being defective or having certain flaws. They somehow got Framber, urquidy, Garcia, and Javier all at once for pretty much nothing.

Extremely extremely annoying, but good work by their scouts and development team.

Stars fans in the metroplex truly are spoiled because the tv crew for the mavericks and rangers are probably both near the bottom of the league. Dave Raymond is a nice guy, but his home run calls suck. While the stars definitely have the best in hockey.

Him and Tag were pretty good together until Nolan ran Lewin off.

I like CJ a lot. He has great insight and is humorous. He gives Raymond he'll when he says something stupid too. I can do without Murphy and Valle.

I believe Ralph & Razer helped drive much of the popularity for the Stars. They were amazing.

Radio for Rangers has always been top notch. I miss Eric Nadel, but Matt Hicks and Jared Sandler have done well. I remember him joining the broadcast... he was sincerely humble that Nadel and Hicks took him in. Nadel would hand over an inning of PBP and they eased him in nicely. It was then, that I realized how phenomenal Nadel was because you could see the contrast in visual details. You could also hear Sandler's improvements.

Nadel packed in twice as many adjectives and descriptors as anyone I've heard.

NOW, I 1st started watching baseball with Vin Scully as my only reference point, so Holtz was an easy listen at nights as I could sometimes pick up the evening broadcast at night in College Station.

Lewin served the purpose of filling entertainment and cookie talk while the Rangers were terrible. Not a fan of Lewin. Too many pop culture references.

The pop culture references were great. Plus Tag would rein him in.

I thought he did fantastic during the first pennant year.

Remember when they tried to replace him with John Rhadigan and how terrible that was?

I actually don't mind CJ and Dave Raymond. Much better than Steve Busby who was just boring as hell.

I seriously don't get the hate for our announcing crew. The dry humor of Dave and the jokes and bits that him and CJ have crack me up. They will never be Vin Scully or Razor and Ralph, but I find them plenty entertaining and informative.

I love CJ. Dave has taken some getting used to. My biggest gripe with him early on was his lack of enthusiasm on his calls. He just seemed to be there and have no emotional connection to the team. He's gotten better, but still a few ticks off of what Lewin brought.

On a related note, anyone have any new info about Eric Nadel? Last I heard he was taking time off to deal with his mental health. I grew up listening to Mark Holtz and Eric Nadel on the radio calls (we didn't have cable tv). He's a Rangers staple. I hope he is doing better.

I really like our current announcers. With that said, nobody will ever top Lewin in my book. That guy was electric. It is a shame Nolan ran him off because Lewin "wasn't his style" only to step down less than two years later. Lewin could make watching grass grow sound exciting. I hope he would consider a return one day if it ever becomes possible.

texasaggie2015 on the Astros thread is either a troll or actually has inside info on the club. Either way, they need to be careful about spewing information about potential front office moves on a message board.

Also, whoever is feeding them info from the inside is pretty wreckless

Man can we please keep this thread to Rangers discussion? The constant reports on what's going on in the Astros thread is exactly the kind of pettiness that we accuse Astros fans of. If people care enough they can go to that thread on their own and keep it to themselves. We have some absolutely great discussion on this thread and would really hate for it to turn toxic!

There's a fine line between discussing baseball and that thread in particular, such as last night where Yordan got hurt. That's just baseball talk and it's our biggest rival, but I agree that we don't always need to consistently discuss what's going on over there. The insider information talk is fine and interesting, but all the talk about how they ***** and moan or are talking about us is annoying and serves no real purpose.

Not sure "Astros looking to go after a big bat or two" is inside info.

Much of it is like "big cigar" talk on TexAgs. A lot of people think they are on the inside but very few are and they aren't posting on message boards.
