I'm kinda bitter towards Maldy...last night he easily could have approached Donkey in the dugout before his AB in the 5th and told him "Skip, if we've got runners on and a chance to get back in this thing you need to pinch hit Diaz for me, the kid has a better chance of making something happen."

He actually did something similar during the regular season when he thought he was going to get pinch hit for (not approaching Dusty but not going for his bat or something) but of course Donkey let him go up there and strike out.

Could we flip Pena for an innings-eater #3-type starter with a couple years of control? Would this even be palatable?

Yes, whoever replaces him (Dubon or someone from AAA/AA) would take a step back defensively, definitely, but maybe not too much offensively (since Pena was ass at the plate for a good majority of the season). I think I'd live with Dubon there if he can have a similar year next season, especially if he can learn to be more patient at the plate, and we get more reliable depth in the rotation. Move LMc and/or Javier to the pen?

You know we're in the golden era of Astros baseball when people are disappointed in an ALCS finish. Especially when we had 2 of our main pitchers out for the year by May (McCullers and Garcia) and went through most of the year without Tuve or Yordan. Ready for Title #3 next year! Go Stros!

Seen a lot of that today. "Ranger fans" talking sh** that I never even knew followed baseball. I could go back into their profiles and see that 3/4 of their "fandom" started around Labor Day. There's a few that are legit old school, like Toby Harrah and Jim Sundberg old school. I'm fine with them.

How he used Maton and Brown in game 7 was like one final one finger flying eagle salute to the fans by Dusty. Still trying to save bullpen arms "in case he needed them tomorrow" in a Game 7 elimination situation. Meanwhile the Rangers were bringing in their likely WS Game 1 starter in relief because they knew the situation.
