Based on the 100 win teams of this season, I'll take 99

From what I was watching in September, this was a hell of a run.

We played 2 less games than last season, but still proud of the boys. Really looking forward to Spring Training and renewed optimism for the season. It's going to be a hell of a 3-way battle in the AL West next season
eh Seattle won't get over the hump. It took them playing 2 months of insane baseball to get to 2 games back to end the season.

It was a good run. Next year will be better if Dusty rides off into the sunset, Maldy moves to the staff, and we remember that redheads in whatever capacity have the ability to effect games and bring us all together. I will be pulling for the NL team this year in the WS. See you next year!

Today, unfortunately, many Americans have good reason to fear that they will be victimized if they are unable to protect themselves. And today, no less than in 1791, the Second Amendment guarantees their right to do so. - Justice Samuel Alito 2022

That's why I added the part about the playoffs, they are always a crap shoot imo which makes what we have done the last 7 years that much more incredible

Wish we could keep Maldy in the org, maybe as a catching/pitching coach in the minors?

Thanks for the good times Dusty... now bounce

Priority #1... have the team relax, then hire a Manager, and a studd hitting coach, get the team healthy...

WS Champs in 2024
that's the crazy thing about the people praising our downfall right now. obviously the playoff are always crazy, but we should be a 100 win team next season.

This is so true. The Braves and Dodgers aren't here, and they will still be in the WS conversation. Hell, the Braves are a juggernaut.

The Astros are still a force to be reckoned with, and we are still right there. We know playoffs are crazy. The best team doesn't always make it to the end.

I actually think his 0fer for Game 7s was in his head. He doesn't know how to manage them.
All feel. No data. That's what I'll remember of DB. Worked like a charm in the '22 postseason as he pushed all the right buttons. He was outmanaged this time around and at many prior stops.

Agree. Though it will be kind of funny if people from all across northeast Texas and other parts unknown suddenly become diehard Rangers fans like they sometimes are diehard Cowboys fans.

Anyway, would say "see yall in the Spring," but we'll have a new manager and other **** to whine about in the off season.

As always, this board has been a serviceable substitute for listening to drunk buddies talk **** when I watch with the local yokels.

The last two games weren't great but I'm very proud of the Astros this season. Will get back there next year. Plenty of other teams would've loved to of been in our shoes to make it here.

And we were the division champs.

We had the pitching to shut down the opponent until our bats woke up.

The pitching choices were easier sure and worked with his set role approach. This year it wasn't so clear and we could have benefited from an approach based on leverage rather than inning.

I think we win 100+ games next season. This season kind of sucked and had about as much go wrong that could go wrong. We damn near played ourselves out of the playoffs with a terrible finish to the season, yet still managed to win the division and carried that momentum to our 7th straight ALCS. I feel pretty good about 8 in a row next year.

What sucks the most about this season is that we didn't play our best hand.

It's like we had an anchor tied to our legs named Dusty Baker. Losing with our best players stings less because you just tip your cap to the team that beats you.

You can't do that this series. You'll just be thinking about what could have happened with a better starting catcher, more consistent lineup decisions, and better handling of our starting pitchers knowing what happens when they get in a serious mess for two of them.

Our starting pitching with Framber's two terrible outings and Javier's bad single outing left our offense to play tight. So the pitching truly did kill us.

I feel like our number one priority this off-season is starting pitching. Garcia and LMJ are going to be back but I feel they may be better bullpen guys.

Hope Framber and Javier figure it out but if they don't we need another guy to fill that slot. Hunter Brown doesn't instill confidence this year either.

I don't think Peña is the answer at short long term. We will see how he does next season. Don't need any flashbacks of Adam Everett's tenure at short. Got to hit

He is still going to want 300 Million plus… After this post season, is he worth that much, idk. We can get two good players for that value after 2024

I'll cut him some slack for carrying this team for much of the regular season but would rather not do a max deal later either.

Cheer up Astros fans! We've been to 7 straight ALCS soon to be 9-10 in a row. Can't win them all, we'll 10 wins in a row, Rangers will lose this World Series and become irrelevant again for the next few years as always.

I think they win it all. Which is good for them. Doesn't matter. Who cares. 5 decade Houstonian and this ride has been glorious. More to come.

Rangers will beat Arizona in 4-5 games.

However, if it's Philly, they will have their hands full. I like Philly to win the WS.

I thought the Phillies would beat Arizona in 4-5 games, too. Playoff baseball doesn't always play out like you'd expect.

Well that's certainly correct. I mean the Marlins beat the Yankees back in the day. With that said, nobody outside of Arizona would pick the Dbacks to beat the Rangers. On the flip side, I'd bet a Rangers/Phillies series would be viewed as a toss up.

Looking back the decision to throw Montero in GM 6 may have been the nail in the coffin.

Yeah the offense still sucked and we may still lose that game by 2 but if Pressly comes in for the 9th that scary Ranger offense we saw late in GM 6 and GM 7 doesn't wake up if he comes in and holds it there.

In the end the result may end up being the same but just an interesting dynamic to think about.

I'd say the Rangers deciding to choke away the division and giving us "home field" advantage was the deciding factor.

5-0 road, 1-5 home this postseason. Two completely different teams. Incredible really.

I think there needs to be a deep dive into the home/road splits. Like unleash the nerds type of deep dive.

They've got to figure out why it's been a reoccurring issue and how to fix it.

Agreed. Playoff teams being swept at home has only happened twice. Both times to the Astros in the last 5 years. Have to solve the MMP issue. Burn it down if you have to
