The point was made of Talking Baseball and I agree. If the Rangers win the series it will most likely have to be in 6. As we've seen the last 2 days, they don't have much after Monty & Eovaldi. We've lit up Scherzer, Heaney, Dunning, & Gray. None of them are fully stretched out either.

They do not make those choices. It's a group decision. They ultimately have the final say, but they don't take the lineup card out of his hands.

  • The FO has final say in the playoffs.
  • To the FO only has a say in the playoffs because of Dusty's contract during the regular season.
  • To the FO has a discussion, but it's Dusty's call in the playoffs.

So don't play the victim. I wasn't coming at you. I made a really general comment that it was interesting watching that take change. I imagine it's been the process of how it was relayed to you. It would be nice if instead of responding like this, you'd ask your guy why that take has changed. That would actually worth being discussed.
Why are you doing this? Do you want to discourage him from giving us his insight? I hope he will continue, but would be hard to blame him if he didn't.


Doing what? Asking why his take changed? That's a pretty basic question when information changes. It's the entire point of a discussion board.

He's one of a handful of guys that dominates the discussion on here. It's not unreasonable to question something he says when it doesn't line up. Especially when he's voluntarily posting information and the change could mean something bigger picture.

This year has been an abject failure in developing future talent and managing our pitching staff. The point of the front office is to set the direction of the club and ensure the day to day tracks to it. That hasn't happened.

So when information supposedly from that front office changes, it's interesting as to why. And just because he has a stance that no one is allowed to ask questions without being accused of attacking him, that doesn't change the entire point of this thread is to discuss the Stros. The fact many go way over board to attack those asking simple questions or making really mundane observations is just weird.

it had a 95% catch probability. yea, he blew that.
And Yordan's had a 100% XBH% yet he trotted back to the bench when it was robbed. Those stats don't tell the whole story all of the time.

I can't remember the exact number but I vaguely remember seeing a stat in September saying we've used the most unique lineups in baseball. Don't quote me on that though.

Everything I've read from the "experts" says to take the under. I'm not sure I agree. Both teams have seen both of these pitchers and I think both teams will get their share of licks in. It's going to come down to who can prevent the one big inning.

I could see neither starter going more than 5 and then the bullpen takes over. Advantage Astros.

Catch probability and xBA are different things.

Catch probability measures the distance needed by time. If Tucker has to move 20 feet in 4 seconds, then how often do players catch balls with that distance & hangtime?

The expected batting Avg is based on EV & LA.

My point wasn't to say they're the same. My point was that some of the advanced statistics are still make believe and aren't always right. Same as the stat cast stuff that says a ball would carry 15' past the fence but it was a line drive that hit the upper deck 20' above the fence.
