Playoff Dusty is an absolute stud

Which begs the question...

What's the biggest discrepancy? Regular season Dusty vs playoff Dusty or Home Astros vs Road Astros
it's hard to tell especially with the knowledge that the front office makes the roster and lineup choices in the playoffs
They do not make those choices. It's a group decision. They ultimately have the final say, but they don't take the lineup card out of his hands.

It's been pretty amazing watching how your take on this has evolved.
I don't know what you have against me, but it's getting really old. You've come at me throughout the year for no reason.

I've said the same thing for months. Some of you just interpret it how you want to. Jesus.
It's a discussion board. I can make a comment regarding things you say. You're crying is beyond old.

It's changed whether you want to admit it or not. It went from
  • The FO has final say in the playoffs.
  • To the FO only has a say in the playoffs because of Dusty's contract during the regular season.
  • To the FO has a discussion, but it's Dusty's call in the playoffs.

So don't play the victim. I wasn't coming at you. I made a really general comment that it was interesting watching that take change. I imagine it's been the process of how it was relayed to you. It would be nice if instead of responding like this, you'd ask your guy why that take has changed. That would actually worth being discussed.

Honestly, I thought that both Chas and Tuck could have made a better effort to catch those balls last night. The probability of Chas making the catch was probably low because he seemed to kind of misread it (and he was shifted), but I thought he could have laid out for it. I thought Tuck pulled up too early and didn't give max effort.
so he lays out for it, he's 3-5 feet away when it lands…you now have runners circling with a ball in the left field corner and Doobie no where near to make a play and then you have either have a major injury from your player diving into the wall head first or you have him shaken up and he still beat Dubon to the ball while multiple runners score.

You don't make diving plays towards the line unless absolutely necessary and high probability
Yup. CF won't be there to back you up.

Yeah I'm not starting this today. My stance hasn't changed. I have always said it's a group discussion and FO has final say. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

Edit: I did find a post earlier in the season where I said the front office makes the lineups. So you're right- I did say that at one point. That was likely before I got the full explanation of how everything works. Who knows. I've been consistent since July and don't go back and forth on purpose.

With the lefty going today, I assume we see the exact same lineup as last night again?

Tucker's body language last night looked like it's going to get worse, not better. Frustration with the bat drops and not even making it halfway to first on the ground ball. It's completely in his head now.
Sure, but that's a fairly normal thing for him when he slumps. The bat gets thrown/slammed a lot. Pretty sure he's slammed it on a bloop hit to RF before too when he thought it was an out. Everyone likes to claim "they don't care" when we lose, but I don't think you show that kind of emotion if you don't care. Even if someone is not doing that, I don't think it's a sign of not caring.

Where I see the lack of confidence is in the field. Someone who trusts himself makes those 2 plays he didn't the last 2 games. His defense regressed this year because he's not reacting to the ball off the bat. I don't think he's seen it well at all. He still makes a direct route, he's just not moving immediately.

Sure, he probably should moved a little more on the ground ball, but everyone takes plays off on simple ground outs. Altuve did it yesterday or the game before. I don't get why people freak out about that. Pretty much all our guys busty their ass if there is a chance.
the line drive over his head was never getting caught…I believe that's one of the plays you are referencing.

Yeah, I had the same thought on the play I thought he could have attempted.

100% if his first step is back, not forward it is caught.

By "pulling up" he stopped the run from scoring. He lays out and there is a run scored and Lowe gets a triple.

$290 for world series SRO, lol

i know, don't take the golden era for granted, but, that's about what face value was for 1st deck tickets in 2017 world series

Wow. Yeah, as much as I would love to go to a World Series game, I've been to a couple and it's hard to justify dropping that kind of money on SRO.

One last thing on Tucker.

Stat: Regular Season vs Postseason
Hard Hit%: 44.5% vs 43%
Barrel%: 10.4% vs 6.9%
xBA: .288 vs .233
xwOBA: .327 vs .387
K%: 13.6% vs 22.9%
BB%: 11.9% vs 17.1%

It's not as good as his regular season, but it's far from bad. The results are terrible though. His xwOBA is only a few points below Altuve, Bregman, & McCormick's actual. It wouldn't be shocking to see a few of these balls start finding holes. You'd like to get the K% back down, but as long as he draws walks at a high clip it offsets it somewhat.

Had a conversation with my kids about how this run is not normal, but to them (Age 16 and 13), it is pretty much all they know.

Fortunately, the Astros have set them up for a whole lot of disappointment for the rest of the lives with regard to rooting for sports teams
It is similar to kids who grew up in the Tim Duncan era of the Spurs.

I grew up in Austin in the 90s. Doesn't get much worse than back end of RC era through Sherman while tu won everything. So happy to be able to experience this Astros run!

Yep. SRO in 2017 were $150.

Sheeeeeeit we needed to get 4 tickets together in the top deck for 2017 and it was $1400 a pop on the secondary. Face value has gone up for sure but I feel WS tickets a bit lower than 2017, still going to be a grand for upper deck. I missed the ticket presale this year but not super bummed, every year I happened to get picked it's usually SRO, singles or maybe pairs on the very top row in the corners

Bingo. There's been very, very few fanbases in the history of sports who have been able to enjoy a run like this. That's not an exaggeration. Read that again. Very, very few fanbases in the history of sports.

It's incredible. Enjoy the ride.
It is incredible. To put it in another context, the Astros have been to the Final Four 7 years in a row. That's not good, that's truly great.

I guess in game 3 he did get on base 4 times. To quote Moneyball:
Billy: Do I care how he gets on base [points at Pete]
Pete: You do not.

Throw strikes and pound the top of the zone with heat. Mix it up with curves and sliders low and below. He'll give us 6 innings if he can do that.
