We were close to getting to Montgomery in Game 1

We had base runners in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th (bases loaded). We had his pitch count high before the 5th, but that's when he turned it on and extended his inning remarkably. (i.e. we let him and their pen off the hook)

I believe we will break through today, and perhaps in a big way.

Brantley won't start with Montgomery pitching. Maybe Dusty will bring him in later against a righty.

I think we will see the same line-up as yesterday be rolled out.

We seriously take for granted the Astros, this is one of the greatest dynasties in the history of baseball, this run has spoiled everyone, and this team always delivers. They may not win every series they may not win this series, but it is so nice to be on this side of things compared to every other sports team I have ever rooted for lol

Yep. Agreed completely. I had some people ask me earlier in the week "What's wrong with the Astros?"

I told them nothing. They're in the ALCS. That's an incredible accomplishment and postseason baseball is hard. We're just so freaking spoiled.

No matter what happens I'm trying my best to just remember how special this run is.

WE'RE IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS!!!

Enjoy every moment of this. We don't know when it will end. Chances are it will never be replicated again.

Since we know the Series will return to Houston for game 6, can you get some of your contacts to hang "Welcome to GLF" signs in and around the MMP clubhouse?

Bingo. There's been very, very few fanbases in the history of sports who have been able to enjoy a run like this. That's not an exaggeration. Read that again. Very, very few fanbases in the history of sports.

It's incredible. Enjoy the ride.

I see this game 5 as a big game for two reasons:

1. Allows us to only need 1 win at MMP versus two (or basically our 50% average for the season) and
2. Rangers are a streaky team and can get hot with confidence. I like seeds of doubt on their flight to Houston.

Had a conversation with my kids about how this run is not normal, but to them (Age 16 and 13), it is pretty much all they know.

Fortunately, the Astros have set them up for a whole lot of disappointment for the rest of the lives with regard to rooting for sports teams

Yordan goes 2-3 with a FC and his #s drop. What a heater he is on.

Abreu moves up to 2nd best ahead of Doobie.

Chas, Bregman, Tuve, & Brantley just keep doing their job.

TED now dead last (not counting Diaz). He needs to get his confident back.

Tucker's body language last night looked like it's going to get worse, not better. Frustration with the bat drops and not even making it halfway to first on the ground ball. It's completely in his head now.

All it takes is one swing. A little seeing eye dribbler through the hole can snap a guy out of a funk sometimes.

But you're right- his body language has been bad.

The good thing is all it takes is for Montgomery to make one mistake to him and he's back at it.

Agree. This is the spot where, if it was the regular season, you'd sit him for a game or two just to give him a chance to relax a bit. Unfortunately, he doesn't get that luxury. I hope he can find it soon. If not during the ALCS, definitely during the next round if we get there. Just like Altuve last season.

Another casual observation that may not be backed up by numbers because I haven't checked: It feels like he hasn't quite been himself at the plate since he got stuck at 27ish HRs.

My biggest disappointment with Tuck last night was the feeling that he didn't lay it all the line to make a diving attempt at that ball in RF. Really felt that he could have made a play on that ball.

Completely unfounded opinion, but from afar it appears as though his lack of hitting is really affecting him in other areas. As a professional, he's got to find a way to get a better mindset. Right now the vibe he gives off is that he is in that place where it's all about him, and he needs to find a way to make it about the team. Granted, Tucker is an unemotional guy to begin with so he is really hard to read, but to the average person watching, the truth is that it looks like he is really in a self-loathing and sulking state of mind.

I went with home game 1 to assure it'll be a game that happens.

If anyone is curious, SROs are $290 before fees. Only singles remained when I was buying mine. Couldn't get two together for any of the four games.

Honestly, I thought that both Chas and Tuck could have made a better effort to catch those balls last night. The probability of Chas making the catch was probably low because he seemed to kind of misread it (and he was shifted), but I thought he could have laid out for it. I thought Tuck pulled up too early and didn't give max effort.

Thanks for the tip on the I-heart radio app, guys. Driving with my daughter to Shreveport for an overnight trip and was pretty staggered when I saw that 4 p.m. Friday start.

My last semester at A&M I had this feeling. Easy classes, working for the Batt, a ton of really good friends, and realizing that I had about 2 months left of it before graduation fractured all of it, for better or for worse.

I say it to my kids a lot, that the good days won't last forever in anything, so enjoy the times that you have when life is really good.

I thought Chas pulled up because of the wall. He was going full speed and pulled up hard. And ironically that's not what he does.

I thought he was frustrated his last at bat because the first pitch was a called strike a foot outside the zone forcing him to swing at the next outside pitch blooping it to the outfield.

so he lays out for it, he's 3-5 feet away when it lands…you now have runners circling with a ball in the left field corner and Doobie no where near to make a play and then you have either have a major injury from your player diving into the wall head first or you have him shaken up and he still beat Dubon to the ball while multiple runners score.

You don't make diving plays towards the line unless absolutely necessary and high probability

but if he misses then two runs score(and eventually probably 3) and they only ended up scoring 1.

cant fault him for it when we got the result of the inning we did

It is similar to kids who grew up in the Tim Duncan era of the Spurs.

it's just a ridiculous run

plus the 2022 team was really an all-timer in its playoff form

Imagine the kids growing up in Boston from about 2001-2014

- 4 Super Bowl titles (6 appearances)
- 3 World Series titles
- 1 Stanley cup (2 finals appearances)
- 1 NBA title (3 finals appearances)

You'd be hard pressed to find a better time to be growing up a sports fan in any city than that run

Sure, but that's a fairly normal thing for him when he slumps. The bat gets thrown/slammed a lot. Pretty sure he's slammed it on a bloop hit to RF before too when he thought it was an out. Everyone likes to claim "they don't care" when we lose, but I don't think you show that kind of emotion if you don't care. Even if someone is not doing that, I don't think it's a sign of not caring.

Where I see the lack of confidence is in the field. Someone who trusts himself makes those 2 plays he didn't the last 2 games. His defense regressed this year because he's not reacting to the ball off the bat. I don't think he's seen it well at all. He still makes a direct route, he's just not moving immediately.

Sure, he probably should moved a little more on the ground ball, but everyone takes plays off on simple ground outs. Altuve did it yesterday or the game before. I don't get why people freak out about that. Pretty much all our guys busty their ass if there is a chance.
