My biggest question is how much of the ball needs to hit the zone in order for it to count? Does a slight edge touching it count, or does half the ball need to hit? what is the threshold i guess is my concern

Technically if a stitch touches the zone it's a strike. It's one of the points detractors make.

It will probably expand the zone but at least it's consistent.

That is such a dumb argument though, especially when you watch Laz or Angel call a game. They might need to adjust the strikezone a bit if it becomes a problem. I don't see side to side being an issue but maybe a curve ball that just nips the front bottom or the back top of the zone.

this is also a 3 dimensional challenge, most think of it as a 2D (cartesian) plane but the depth of the plate also needs to be considered

I think the 3d zone should be round or rounded at the edges. That'll prevent balls in the dirt or chest high being strikes.

Plus it's not like they wouldn't still be ruling on plays at the plate, foul tips (they obviously need to work on it), and other duties. You would think they would be all for it UNLESS they think it's a slippery slope to removing them altogether.

That knucklehead, if done too many times, will find himself on the bench...problem solved.

If there are only 3 I doubt it would take that much more time and I love the idea of the umpire getting shown up on the big screen. Perhaps it will lead to course correcting during the game where he realizes, crap, I really am missing that outside strike (or whatever it is) and he will, GULP, try to do better. What a novel concept.

I'm tired of their crap and too much money is involved for them to wield that much power. F*** 'em.
