Here's my list of most important postseason games during this run (excluding clinching games). This list includes a couple we lost that could have flipped a series

1. 2022 WS Game 4. Won
2. 2017 WS Game 5. Won
3. 2021 WS Game 4. Lost (would have tied series 2-2)
4. 2021 ALCS Game 4. Won
5. 2022 WS Game 5. Won
6. 2018 ALCS Game 4. Lost (would have tied series 2-2)
7. 2023 ALDS Game 4. Won (Lopez game 5 if we lost)
8. 2022 ALDS Game 1. Won (huge win in hindsight)

Did I miss any? I tried to go more post 2017 because I could fill an entire list with just that season alone
2005 NLCS Game 6 - that win put the Astros in the WS for the first time in franchise history. I would consider that LCS more important than this year's as well.

True. I was just looking at the current 2017-present run but yeah that NLCS was wild.

For me the most important series was the 2017 WS. Winning that first ring was the massive hump to get over. The next 6 years doesn't happen the way it did without that ring.

As a fan in DFW, I REALLY don't want the mall cops to win. Their fan base is already insufferable after having won exactly jack **** in their history. To actually give them something to strut about for a year, plus a potential WS? *cringe*

It created a winning culture. I maintain that once the Ags win their first title, it will be the beginning of a football dominant run and we will be looked at as a power house over time.

I will publicly say this to the board:

Uncle!

Guess I'm the minority here in as much this series to me is absolutely critical considering the opposition. It's a must win for multiple reasons, but for me it just means more.

Dallas hate.

You're allowed to have your opinion. **** em. Let's hang 9 on them Sunday and set the tone.

Ha. Easily said the same thing about the Astros pre 2017. Now look at us. Astros were an incredibly weak minded franchise and constantly folded under pressure.

Given that there is no one we can add that I really want pitching when it matters, I would add Bielak as a true long reliever (in case of blowout or long extra inning game) so that you don't have to hold Brown or France in reserve.

Let's never forget why the Astros won the division, made the playoffs, and are hosting an ALCS game.

This play turned the season series and (in retrospect) the division.

Who wants a double play when you are up 3-0?

I was going to put that one. But more focused on post-2017 because winning after that season puts a lot of doubters away.

But yeah I should have added that one. First win a WS game ever for us and set the tone for a big series

Absolutely ridiculous there is this much dead time in baseball playoffs, and then we get critical games at 3pm on a Monday.

The powers that be in baseball are dumb
Mathguy64

It's only dead time because we wrapped up early. Had we lost game 4 there would have been a travel day back home and we would have played game 5 yesterday.

Marwin hit the most important homer in Astros history. Then Burke against the Braves. Yordan ALDS game 1 2022 might be 3rd.

Yordan and Burke are close.

I have proposed a bet on the Rangers/Astros trash talking thread. I would not consider myself a principle here as I lurk more than post, so not my bet to confirm/deny, I just proposed a framework for a bet. I will make sure to follow up tomorrow with "No Bet" if the principle posters of both teams do not come to an agreement.

We all want the Astros to win, however if things don't go our way I won't be too upset, we have won a lot of games and have our 2 recent WS wins plus all the ALCS wins …. A 3rd title would be really nice but I kind of feel like a Bama fan these days .. we win a few and still kick ass .. nothing to worry about if we don't win this year, people respect the Astros for who we are .. we don't have to prove that to anyone ..

I'll agree that we have already become a championship dynasty, but we have a real shot to ascend within the dozen or so baseball dynasties that have ever existed in America's sport.

I want to see us hit 9 LCS appearances in a row (2 more) so we hold that record, likely for the rest of my lifetime and beyond.

And I want us to win a 3rd WS before the window closes. We probably have this year and a couple more.

So yes, I'm happy, but it's time to be greedy. Build upon the legend.
