After last year, we should no longer assume non conference games are going to be wins. I'm setting my expectations low so I can't be disappointed. I hope they do well, but last year used up all my optimism.

Earlier in the year, they were showing off all the celebrity visitors they would bring around the clubhouse pregame. I wonder if they just have too many distractions at MMP that they don't have on the road.

We seem way more focused and hungry on the road. Just going through the motions at home with consistently inconsistent ho-hum play. Bats and pitching worse at our home park.

Dusty sets the tone for the team with his ever changing lineups.

Tonight it was 'JV is starting we don't need much offensive effort'

Also sure players are pros but gotta be disruptive for half the order changing game to game.

What's Chas gotta do to play every day? C'mon.

If you know your team is slumping at home that was not the lineup to use tonight.

Sure nobody expected JV giving up 6 runs but scoring only 2 not an easy path to a W.

Just a shame, this team is capable of winning it all again. It starts at the top and Dusty is telling this team none of this matters.

Maybe Dusty actually is 300 IQ by making his players go through so much bull**** during the regular season that they won't be rattled by anything in the postseason. But that plan does involve actually making the postseason

Maybe it is the distractions at home vs on the road. Not sure why they are doing so many PR things on their off days like Bregman at Canes or meet and greets at Dicks sporting goods on Saturday mornings before games.
IMO the Astros are one of the only teams who don't need the PR in their home city because 95% of the fans love everything they do anyways.

I'd save all the Canes and meet and greets for the off-season…. Not on your off days in season.

It's probably not "the reason" but who knows at this point… it's got to be something external

Some guy said a team that lost 3 of its best starters for most or all of the year, and 2 of its best hitters for large portions of the year, should win 100 games with a "blind squirrel" as skipper.

Realistic appraisal isn't generally in the bleeders repertoire.

Of course Severino has now thrown 13+ shutout innings in a row so tonight likely isn't a gimme game as it has been all year

I didn't see the second one but the first one was just an offspeed pitch that didn't break enough and clipped his elbow area. 100% not intentional.

It's the same with Aggie football. Except there, some posters can only think about recruiting.

We could win a title but a lot of posters right after would just be like "but how does this effect recruiting, can't let the sips get momentum"

I could be wrong, but....I think they press more at home trying to win for the fans. I think their stated appreciation of the fan base is genuine.
