Throwing Heat about Nolan Ryan is a great read too if you like reading entertaining stories told about each other by other players.Beau Holder said:
Speaking of baseball books, I'm halfway through "The Arm" by Jeff Passan. Curious how it'll hold up as it ages given the things we continue to learn and see happen, but it's a very interesting history of Tommy John surgery and how we arrived at modern thinking around pitcher usage.

I read Drellich's book earlier this year. The stuff about the cheating scandal is really only the last third of the book. Majority is on the formation of Luhnow's philosophy on team building and the power structure that flowed through his subordinates in the front office. If you want an inner look at the politics going on inside FO, there's quite a bit there.
It's worth a read even if you want to stop at the sign stealing, IMO.
Steer clear of the gold diggers, JP. (not saying that's the issue, just saying)texasaggie2015 said:
I have to be careful with what I share on here. I remember some even expecting me to spill the personal issues Pena was fighting through.

The important part is that we know that he knows. The Porkchop Express said:If you're not going to share, don't dangle.texasaggie2015 said:

Okay dude. My bad. I get it. Sorry.
I just felt like I should chime in and say I've heard that stuff as well. Apparently not.

Did anyone read this book? I just finished my last book and I'm looking for one.
Is it any good because that part has me definitely intrigued.

Your inside info that you provide is much appreciated.

I along with the majority of folks on here appreciate what tidbits you have and continue to provide. It's good stuff and I enjoy what it adds to the ongoing discussion.
But man you gotta grow some thicker skin
I'm just messing with you. All the criticism you get is mostly annoyance with management and on the field issues combined with a little bit of jealousy.texasaggie2015 said:

And with the Pena stuff I thought it would be useful context for why he's struggling. I don't think it's my place to share what goes on in his personal life. I don't see why that's hard to understand.
And to the poster above…. I don't know why you think that's what I'm doing but you're wrong.
