He played off and on when he came up. Wasn't much but it did happen while he was overlapping with Reddick
Haha... I have no memory of this but I looked it up and you're right. That's funny.

Tucker is MUCH more athletic and agile than Yordan.

That's not going to happen. They tried and it wasn't going to work.

I guess I sit here and ask how hard did they try? He's a professional athlete. Should be doable with work. Plenty of major leaguers have made position changes
You can sit there and do whatever you want.....isn't going to change a damn thing
Simply asked a question bud. Its a message board
Im looking for Ray Finkle.... and a clean pair of shorts. Im just a very big Finkle fan. This is my Graceland, sir.

I had the same experience when I ran into the stat that Maldonado had a 0.00 ERA and a WHIP of 1.000 in 2014. He apparently pitched an inning to finish a game at some point in 2014.

That is a big loss for TB. It probably helps Framber's Cy chase a little too.

another data point for the first base discussion...

in 1979 the Pittsburgh Pirates won the world series...

with Willie Stargell as their regular first baseman at age 39

while playing with bad knees on astroturf

There was a team recently that did it with a 38-year-old who used to play 2B, SS, & 3B.

Sure. That was Willie Stargell about 40 years ago. We're talking about Yordan Alvarez.

Guys, I'm telling you. Yordan is not going to play first base.

so the plan at first base for 2024 is ?

The guy with 40 M left on his deal.
Jose Abreu is making Carlos Lee's "worst ever" contract palatable

With Yordans fragile soft tissue construction, I certainly don't want him doing the splits at first base on a regular basis.

60 M today was only like 39 M in 2006.

Wonder what in the world is going on in Tampa between their organizational pitching philosophy and training staff. He'll be joining Rasmussen, Springs, and like half their top bullpen arms on the shelf. With Glasnow only having recently returned from similar issues.

My theory - trying to maximize spin rate. Just pushing the elbow/shoulder/forearm to the limit.

It's a joke, but both contracts are still bad regardless of inflation.

TB is a pitching factor but the injuries are hard to ignore.

Oh I know.

I am still hoping Abreu can do enough to take him off this list.

With the McClanahan news, you have to imagine the Rays percentage drops and Houston becomes the favorite in the AL.

I wonder how much the pitch clock has to do with it. I'm totally spitballing here so if I'm off base someone please correct me.

When you're in the gym, your body needs a certain amount of time to rest between sets. Is pitching similar? Certain guys need longer to recover between pitches, and now that they have to rush, maybe their arms are just giving out sooner. Complete speculation. I'm sure there's more than one reason.

I'm wondering the same. Lots of people blaming WBC but it seems more widespread than those who played in it.

Same, I joke about him out of frustration but I haven't completely thrown in the towel! 100% possible in baseball.

Optimal rest time depends on the intensity of your sets and the type of exercise you're doing. So you could be right that the "max effort" style of pitching has not rebalanced to the clock.

Singleton at DH and Diaz at C and that's a perfect lineup

But it's also not like every team has had their top four starters need Tommy John in the span of a calendar year or close to it. Still worth wondering what Tampa is teaching, emphasizing, or seeking out.

I would rather have Chas at DH over Singleton in this instance

Chas needs to be in the lineup for it to be a perfect lineup. His numbers are too good.
