It's been sounding like we're about to see Yainer almost every day from this point forward. I know they've been working him out at a couple different places to see how he looks in an effort to increase his versatility.

The organization had concerns about his work ethic before the season started and those should be put to rest. He's been working his tail off.

seems like it was just 1 game plus Adam Frazier with a few games vs Framber

Different stats, but close.

Because he was brought up to be a LH bat off the bench with a couple spot starts here and there.

This isn't bringing up a top prospect who you want in the lineup ASAP.

I guess I sit here and ask how hard did they try? He's a professional athlete. Should be doable with work. Plenty of major leaguers have made position changes

I don't know why this is so hard to explain because I've tried before and was told I'm wrong. Not everyone is skilled at everything. Yordan just wasn't good at it. That's why utility guys are so valuable. Being able to play multiple positions at the highest level of baseball is extremely difficult to do.

Playing first base in the MLB isn't like playing first base in beer league softball. It's actually really difficult.

Yes, people have changed positions before... but not everyone is capable. Yordan is very skilled with the bat. He worked his ass off to be a capable outfielder. He's just not good at playing other positions. That's one of the reasons the Dodgers gave him up. Lack of versatility and the universal DH wasn't a thing back then. They didn't think he was capable of playing OF in the big leagues.

It was a short experiment. They worked him out a few times and figured out pretty quick that it wasn't going to work. Yordan just isn't a big league first baseman.

I don't remember Tucker working out at first base. He's been considered a plus outfielder for a long time. Not sure why they would do that other than to just see if it could be an option in a pinch.

Bingo. It's entirely possible he figures things out during the offseason and this year is just a bad year. I'm not necessarily expecting it, but it's definitely possible.

But I would be very surprised if they just ate his contract. They'll stick with him for as long as they can.
