Little brother Arlington fans are low-key salty about Houston stealing their trade deadline thunder.

I was thinking about Singleton recently...what does adding a guy like him to your minor league club do for the organization if you never intend to call him up? Obviously, this is really only relevant to how he is currently crushing the ball.

If you just leave him in AAA while he's crushing, you're basically paying him to give the few fans at games something to cheer, and maybe blocking someone else from developing. Meanwhile, you roll out guys like Hensley, Madris, Kessinger, Bannon to get the occasional spot duty at DH or 1B. Is there some salary or contract thing that kicks in to make him more expensive that the team wants to avoid?

A day like today, where you 1) give a regular the day off, 2) put Yordan in LF, and 3) have some big time slumps in effect, seems like a great opportunity to get bat with pop in the lineup

Went to the game again today, back to back wins!

Took my daughter for her 12th bday…got her a gold Altuve jersey..they still have a very large selection available!

So, here's the thing I've heard about Singleton since I've asked. The guy mashes AAA fastballs. That's kinda who he is. He's a AAAA player and he struggles mightily against big league stuff. I actually went back and looked at clips of his home runs this year.. and just about every single one was a fastball right down the pipe. Here's a few:

He looks foolish against good offspeed and breaking stuff. And the gap between AAA and MLB pitching is very, very wide.

Does he still deserve a shot? You could argue that. But the Astros scouting/developmental team is as good as it gets and I trust their eyes.

He also went 3 for 29 in Milwaukee earlier this year with 11 K's.

Again, maybe he deserves a shot.. but it was interesting once this got pointed out to me.

I know next to nothing about him. Does he chase breakers out of the zone? Maybe you stick him in a spot b/w Diaz and Chas (since Chas keeps hitting 7th all the time anyway) and teams throw him more fastballs. That's the logic Dusty uses for Pena, right? Maybe he succeeds. If he doesn't? So f-cking what? It's not like the guys filling the end of the bench are doing anything.

As to the 40 man, yeah I get that. So I ask again, why are you hanging onto him? But, I bet there are at least 2 other players on the 40 man that also have no future with the big club and no one else wants.

I know this isn't a Yordan situation where we all just kept watching homer after homer and going "what is the hold up!" But come on, does it really hurt to see what happnes? If you are absolutely convinced that he has nothing...(I ask a 3rd time) why are you keeping him?

And THAT is why I would give Singleton a look. I am skeptical as to whether he can translate it, but if he can, it would be a huge lift.

And there is NO risk. That last spot in our starting 9 is a black hole right now, whether it is Maldonado, Julks, Meyers, Dubon, Madris, etc.
