The two teams I believe JV will waive his no trade clause for are the Astros and Dodgers. The Dodgers can offer the better prospect package, but the Astros seem willing to pay for more of his salary. What means more to the Mets? And does JV prefer one destination significantly more than the other?

I dont think the Mets care as much about the salary but to me that would be what I'd go for over prospects. You can do a lot with almost 30-40 million off yours books
why would anyone take 30mm over 15 when you can get 35mm now? to be a bobby bonilla type deal, you'd have to pay him about 175mm over 20 years.GhostWipe15 said:

Fine, lets say 40 million over 20 years or 50 Million over a twenty five year period. Yes he can make more money upfront, but he also handcuffs the team from being able to get pieces to compete with. Which is why I said, if he really wants to complete...what Aaron Rodgers just did in NY.
Mets are open to trading players under control only through 2024, but appear to have zero intention to trade star 1B Pete Alonso. Of course things can change on deadline day but that’s their mindset. They are getting many hits on Raley. Narvaez obviously could go.

I fully believe the "mystery teams" are just leaks to drive up the asking price.
Baltimore makes sense for JV from a baseball standpoint. I've been told more than once that Kate and their little girl will play a big role in the decision from a lifestyle standpoint. If you combine both of those factors, it seems like Houston and the familiarity here certainly make sense.

For the average Joe with a crap ton of money? Maybe. Though as a native Texan who would never live in California, their weather is multiple magnitudes better.
For Kate who is a starlet and socialite though, I would think LA is much better stylistically. However, knowing how life is in Houston and the club culture from a first hand, that may factor in greatly as well.

Verlander resigned with the Astros twice and probably would have a third time if Crane had offered the 3rd year so doesn't seem to have an issue with the city or organization.

It's not until it is. People can fall in love with any city. I'm sure JV still loves Detroit too.
Kate & JV feel comfortable here, they trust the owner not to blow it up, and trust the pitching & training staff to help extend the career then it's easy to see why the city & team have an advantage over others.

Edit: the internet says they bought a house in LA in 2016 but moved to Florida in the last few years. They also bought (or were planning to) a penthouse in Manhattan. They're selling (sold?) the LA house.

Kate frequently still comes and visits the Houston area. Some of her closest friends have a weekend place down the road from me and I know Kate has been here at least twice over the summer. They don't hate TX that's for sure. The whole "round top/chic junk gypsy" upper echelon status thing is very real these days.
My pick would be to rehab anywhere Kate is at.
