All my negative predictions have been right for the most part (Altuve still has issues, but he has played some). Was wrong on Brantley coming back period.

I feel like my Diaz prediction would be true, but Dusty refuses to let him play more than once a week.

This is a sneaky good pick.

Here is what worries me about JV.

• 40 years and 154 days old with 1-2 years remaining on his deal.
• Stuff+ looks good for his slider, curve, & change. His fast goes from elite to below avg.
• K% is way down and BB% is way up.
• xFIP & SIERA are sitting at 4.50 (67th) & 4.56 (65th).
• Velo down slightly. 3 games this season where his fastball avg was below 94.

In theory, I would love to trade for a guy with JV's #s. He'd be a solid #3 type who's competing to crack the playoff rotation. But when you hear the name Justin Verlander, you're going to treat him like the guy who won the Cy last year and I think that guy is pretty much gone except for some flashes.

Let's say Verlander makes his way back to Houston by the end of next week, and the Astros go on another playoff bender and at least reach the ALCS. Verlander comes back for 2024 and 2025 and has 2 decent seasons with 3-4 WAR and some more playoff appearances.

As it stands, he has 380 starts, 183 wins, and 56.6 WAR with the Tigers, 102 starts, 61 wins, and 21.4 WAR with the Astros, and 14 starts, 4 wins, and 1.5 WAR with the Mets. He also has 1 ROY, 1 CY, and 1 MVP with the Tigers, and 2 CY and 2 WS Rings with the Astros.
