If anything, I think adding Bellinger could be a positive for national optics. He'd inevitably be asked about 2017 and would have to declare that it was in the past and it's time to move on. Not that I care much about national optics but it's something to consider.

If they were to hypothetically get him, he could play any outfield position, first base, and also DH. He would rotate around and keep guys fresh.MAROON said:

Ideally he would start vs RHP, but I don't know if we'd pencil him in CF, 1B or DH...maybe LF? If CF then Chas could still play in LF, but things will get a little tight once Yordan gets back in there.MAROON said:

Bellinger doesn't make sense because he isn't the righty killer we need. Would love to get a guy like Fraley who crushes righties.

Versatility. That's why Houston wanted him. Keep in mind out of these guys that are being mentioned (Chas, Jake, Julks) at least one of them won't be on the roster later in the year.
I'm not saying I want Bellinger, but his ability to bat lefty and play multiple positions is why Houston is intrigued by him.

Agreed. Bellinger hasn't sniffed a .700 OPS against RHP since 2020.

IMO the offense isn't an issue now that Abreu has come around, Dubon has proven to not be flash in the pan, Diaz has flashed, and add in Yordan when he gets back.
The only way to efficiently upgrade is if it's a full time bat in a deal that includes ML guys. A platoon bat like Bellinger just isn't worth it. We have capable guys who can platoon that are cheap and won't cost prospects.
Either go for the big bat that inserts directly into the lineup full time or roll with what we got offensively and bulk up the starting rotation and BP.

The offense is working now. TED, Chas, Abreu, & Julks have been tearing the ball off the cover lately. But that won't continue. We're down Altuve again and Yordan.Ag_07 said:

Overall, this team is pretty average vs RHP.
vs RHP: 101 wRC+, 14th overall
vs LHP: 110 wRC+, 6th overall
We could take a left fielder like Julks (wRC+ of 93 vs RHP) and replace it with 127 (Joc) or 138 (Alex) vs RHP. That would do wonders and wouldn't cost you the farm.

I was just looking at Verdugo. I know he has played LF in the past, but he hasn't done it once this year. I don't know what affect that would have on him, if any.
