Bagwell and Crane teetering on an 0-3 from the offseason...and yea i'm still counting Abreu in the 0 column until he shows consistency for a 2-3 months.

I've been telling y'all not to count on Brantley this year.

Maldy owns Perez (11 for 23). We have gone up against a few guys like that lately.

Which only makes it more funny to think about how bad he must be against the 95% of the league he doesn't own.

I was just reading a draft blurb that listed the Astros farm as ranked #28. When considering potential trades does anyone think it would be in the Astros interest to acquire some more future 1st round picks? Obviously, they don't help this year, and I don't mean picks exclusively...but at some point the team will need some more, right?

In general, what do team value more...prospects or draft picks?

Don't think you can trade draft picks?

Our farm has been ranked low for years…and yet we keep cranking out studs. I think those rankings suck and our guys are better at evaluating talent than some writers from Talking out of your Ass Magazine.

You can't trade most of them. I think some compensation picks can be traded. You can also acquire international bonus pool money. More typically just trade directly for the prospects you like. Theoretically they should be closer to the majors than whoever you would spend future draft picks or bonus money on.

I think we can finally stop saying "when Brantley comes back". I'd rather have Dubon in LF anyways at this point. There's no reason to assume Brantley coming back from a year long injury and being 37 that he will be better than what Dubon is doing now.

I get that, and I was unaware of the restrictions on trading picks. Houston has done a good job on the international prospect world and had 2 pretty good GMs work to keep the system viable.

I just can't help but wonder if the loss of picks eventually shows up as guys like Tucker continue to leave.

How long before we find out he tore his labrum again and is going to get it "cleaned up"?

Most of us have noticed.

He could still be a viable option vs RHP. If he plays, and I'm not going hold my breath, I think we should see if he's productive.

But we both know Dusty will just pencil him in the 2 hole every day.

Tiny part of me is wondering if the FO is projecting him to be worse than Jake/Julks the rest of the year (especially taking defense into account), and doesn't want to give Dusty a veteran crutch rather than a more viable alternative. I'm probably reading too much into it.

Not if he stays on the IL all year. I think it's time to scratch him off the list.

checking in with Carlos...

and he's having the worst season of his career.

has played in 74 of 85 games for the Twins -- only missed 11 games.so far

dreadful .695 OPS and OPS+ of 91 in his age 28 season

leads the American League with 14 GiDP's

making $33 MM this year so that's good

Dreadful .291 OBP and .404 SLG while constantly hitting in a top 4 spot. He hit lead-off yesterday.

Bregman killed that inning. Anything on the ground to the right side or fly out to the outfield scores one.
