as previously mentioned...he does draw walks

had 31 last year in 277 plate appearances ~ 1 walk every 9 P.A.'s

that's the kind of ratio the Astros need

If it was any other team than the A's I would be absolutely certain it was used but since it's Oakland, maybe it was "legit" or as legit as it can be against a glorified minor league team.

It will be interesting to see what the Padres do at the trade deadline. They are out of the race right now. Will they make moves to "improve" in desperate attempt to make the post season? Or will they trade some of their big signings they've made the past couple of seasons?

The walk talk earlier had me looking at baseball reference, and it's crazy Altuve is just 1-3 walks away at 16 of tracking down Abreu, Maldy, and Pena for the season, and has doubled up Dubon's 8.

To me, the only hitter of interest on either the Padres or Mets would be Soto, if he were ever made available. Fits everything needed while only having 1.5 years of club control left.

The other contracts are so ridiculously bad that even if the teams were to pick up half of the money, they would still end up rotten. Nimmo would fit perfectly for 2-3 years tops, but the idiots gave him 8 years despite the fact that he is 30 and already starting to fall off defensively.

I have a feeling he'll hit the open market and get signed the next offseason by whoever lost out on Ohtani.
