Is that accurate? I don't pay enough attention to other team's injuries to know how we compare.
Watching the Cardinals and Cubs in London, the Cardinals are very not good. If we can't get right offensively against them, especially while they're dealing with jet lag, then we have bigger issues than we think.
Yankees have been hit hard too but I find it hard for anyone else to compete with ours.
Brantley & McCullers haven't seen the field yet. Obviously, McCullers won't. Chas missed a decent chunk. Altuve was out for a while. Now Yordan is out. Urquidy is going to miss about half a season. And Garcia only had a handful of starts before needing TJ.

As a Colt 45 and Astros fan since 1962 the decision to sign Singleton is one of the biggest head scratcher decisions I've seen made by the front office.

DJ is 34
Stanton is 33
Rizzo is 33
Cole is 31
Judge is 31
Rodon is 30
If there is a shot Judge and Rodon will be back then they should do what they reasonably can to give it a run because a lot of their core is aging.
Plus it'll be good learning experience for Volpe & Cabrera.

Exactly what I told my friend who told me the news. He was terrible when called up.

"Awful when he got called up" in 32 PA. Not exactly enough to call it a day on his career. 34 HR 116 RBI in just over 600 Triple A ABs 2022-23. He's got as much or more potential than Madras, Taylor White, Matijevic etc. so why not kick the tires if it doesn't cost us anything?
Assume he went awful when called up when he was with the astros years ago?

But I do think if he didn't have the "smoked his way out of baseball" history with our org, the reactions would more be like "oh great, why not take a flier on this guy?"
He's probably just the next Japhet Amador (remember him?) but on the 1% chance he's the next Josh Hamilton…
I'm not trying to judge him on what he did in 2014.
