I would agree that Machete is tired

Yanier should take over

The hoops the Astros media are jumping through instead of just saying this team needs to just play better is hilarious

"Team just needs a day off from 17 straight"

"Reds were just a hot team"

"We played too many playoff games so now they're tired"

Any guesses to which one they use next?

Player A:
.222 ISO, .479 Slug, .364 wOBA, 132 wRC+

Player B:
.205 ISO, .457 Slug, .343 wOBA, 120 wRC+

One of these plays every day on another team, and the other spends half the time on the bench.

Player A is Trout, Player B is Chas

Over the last 3 seasons, Maldonado has had 988 plate appearances. If you set the minimum at 900 PA over the previous 3 years, there has been only one hitter worse than Maldy. Who is it?

Jackie Bradley Jr - wRC+ 40, OPS .513, 911 PA

Enough with the rest a guy here rest a guy there nonsense. If everyone is really that tired… take a whole series and play your AAAA lineup. Give everyone who's worth a damn 3-4 days off then reset.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Player B sure has similar numbers to guys like Adolis Garca, Marcus Semien, Matt Chapman, Gunnar Henderson, Bryan Reynolds, Anthony Santander, & Anthony Rizzo. I wonder why he's not getting love like they do.

Interesting...

I wouldn't be surprised if they are tired.

These guys are professional athletes, but they are people too.

The ones who should be tired are Bregs, Altuve, Yordan Maldy and Tuck. Add several from the pitching staff and bullpen too.

Play the guys who are fresh now and let the tired guys recharge. Abreu needs to play every day. Yainer needs to play every day. Peña needs to play every day.

The mental mistakes and uninspired play leads me to believe that tiredness could be the case.

Maybe the strategy is to keep it close, keep the major players fresh and ramp up in August and September.

They've completed 6 consecutive marathons, and on top of that, they've played about 2/3 of a season more than the rest of the league during that time.

I'm not excusing it. I'm just saying there may be something to it.

I agree. They have some serious tread worn off the tire.

I think we should continue to rest guys, but we have to do it in a way that makes sense. You can't rest Altuve, Bregman, Tucker, Yainer, or Chas on the same day. You can't rest Chas vs LHP. You can't rest TED vs RHP. Dubon needs to be the jack-of-all-trades player who fills in for the guy resting the majority of the time. Julks, Salazar, & Kessingger need to rarely see the field. Maybe Julks can PH for Maldy late. Then Salazar catches. Julks & Kessinger can also pinch run. That is pretty much the only role these guys need to play while were struggling and Yordan is out.

That's lovely. The is one small flaw in your logic.

Could the Astros keep social political Bs out of my baseball please?

Please don't pretend like it's all isn't interwoven at this point

I didn't even bring up that the space cowboys logo has been "altered"for 19 days so far…

Soooooooo........

Hunter Brown vs. Mad Max tonight

Scherzer got roughed up his last two starts against the Braves and Yankees. Hopefully that trend continues.

It's been reported Bregs doesn't work with Cintron/Snitker anyway. He has a private guy to tinker with.

Weird way of saying that. It's fairly common knowledge he's had the same hitting coach since he was a teenager and that's who he does most of his work with.

But any hitting coach worth their salt should still know his swing and be able to offer up recommendations they see in the moment like McCann did.

None of these guys use team hitting coaches exclusively for any work. I'd bet most have someone they work with during off seasons etc

He does have a private guy he works extensively with, but he listens to input from the guys on the staff as well.

The "its been reported" that makes it sound like people say it but it isnt out in the open or common knowledge

He literally has a whole youtube channel that tracks his offseason work etc and the hitting coach is always on there. So I just find that phrasing weird.

Or you can just ignore comments that get you so emotional that you have to resort to telling other people what they can't say.

It's possible they aren't.

It's possible the hitters themselves collectively aren't very good.

It's possible there are good hitters on the team and Dusty isn't using them to their maximum potential.

Or it's possible it's a combination of all 3.
