I don't think this page has been updated, but it shows Bielak has 1 minor league option left. Maybe there's something about timing where if they kept him around any longer, they couldn't option him again and he'd have to be DFA'd?

It's pretty obvious that we feel no sense of urgency, and view "being in the playoff picture" as all we should be doing right now.
We are resting key guys at unusual rate. We are giving away games by putting Montero back in - clearly hoping he can work through these issues. Presley might me joining this category too, and we haven't tried Abreu much as a closer with Ryan struggling.
Maybe it's the right play. Maybe we should be working towards being the most rested team to make the playoffs. Time will tell.
But taking it for granted that we will make the playoffs is playing with fire.

Yeah I don't know how they missed what the rangers are building. I'll admit I thought they would contend in 2024 and not this year. But they signed Eovaldi, DeGrom, Seager, and Semien all in the past 15 months …. Along with their top prospects finally coming up.
They've drafted well and we did the same thing from 2012-2016 with drafting and bringing up top prospects.
Getting rid of Jon Daniels and bringing in Chris Young has helped the Rangers immensely. Thought they hung on to Daniels way too long as he seemed to focus more on offense instead of pitching strength. Young was a former MLB pitcher so he obviously has focused on strengthening their pitching staff.
I guess Dusty will never actually let Diaz catch so that Diaz cannot actually prove he is capable of handling the pitching staff and prove Dusty is wrong. Crazy that the staying fresh philosophy with Altuve and others does not apply to the most physically demanding position on the roster.

If by decent stuff you mean gives up a bunch of HRs, has a bad K/BB ratio, has a 1.7 WHIP and gives up 10 hits/9… then yeah he's the guy…

Last year gave the whole organization the idea that resting is why they won. They were able to rest because they had the division wrapped up in June.
This year is not like that but the organization is not adjusting very quickly.
