Frustrating that Chas not in the lineup today or more regularly. The Julks over Chas fascination that Dusty has just makes no sense when you look at any of the advanced statistics.

I am not one that thinks Julks is so horrible he can't ever be used. Is Chas that much better? You decide.

Julks does not get on base by the walk but he's getting on a lot more by hitting with the higher BABIP. It's not a trade off but it does even things up a little. Chas has more pop. The OBA metrics and counting measures factor those BB in positively so they favor Chas. Chas is IMHO clearly the better fielder and can play all 3 spots where Julks is a liability in LF.

The short version is Julks would look a lot better if he walked at the 8.8% clip that Chas does.

Yes, Chas is clearly better and he's playing below his his last 2 years so you know he's able to play even better.

My guess is Yordan gets an additional 10 day IL stint and we don't see him until July

Been struggling a little bit, lately. We've run Maldy and Abreu out longer with bigger struggles, but Chas doesn't get that treatment.

Nope. Not even close.

The answer is yes. Chas is above average at the plate and much better in the field than Julks, and Chas has a lot more of a sample size in his career to suggest success and production at least at same level.

Julks is 27 so is not a prospect, and his BABIP, lack of plate discipline, and other numbers suggest he might have a hard time even sustaining his current numbers, which are currently below average. For whatever reason, Dusty has never liked Chas, so at very least Diaz should be the one that is getting the Julks treatment by Dusty as he is the best prospect out of the trio with the most upside. However, really frustrating that Dusty has a proven above average outfielder in Chas who he continues to sit on a regular basis in favor of a below average outfielder who is not a prospect.

You know, it's going to be pretty funny to me when the organization trades Chas and makes Meyers the everyday CF after Crane getting snippy with Click about him.

Guessing this has already been discussed at some point but Julks seems like "Dusty's guy" and he's going to continue getting as many "benefit of the doubt" nods as possible. Even if it goes against the organization's wish of getting Diaz more nods.

I remember how big of a surprise it was when he made the roster. If anyone played their way onto the team this past spring, it was Dirden. Texasaggie2015 even confirmed that the team was/is really high on Dirden.

The fact that Julks made it over Dirden, despite a solid but not great spring, seemed at the time like it was because we wanted Dirden to continue getting everyday reps at AAA while Julks would mostly ride the pine for the big club. My guess is that's how it was devised when they were set the roster.

But turns out, Dusty's advocacy for Julks was because he wants to play him. Like, all the time.

I'm kinda glad we are in an era of advanced stats, because at least it puts a little bit of a check on Dusty's transparent desire to force Julks into everyday playing time.

(And I definitely don't mean this post to be about Dirden vs Julks. Both seem very meh. Including Dirden in this post is more to point out that someone in our org had to have made a strong case to put Julks on the final roster over Dirden, seemingly out of no where. It seems obvious in hindsight that it was Dusty).

Should have signed a mlb caliber cf a while ago. Replacing Springer with McCormick/Myers isn't great.

If Brantley and Yordan weren't made of glass, Julks likely isn't on this roster or at least not playing much.

Is the ump pissed they moved the game up an hour?

George hasn't been better than Jake this year and a hot run lately is the only reason he's ahead of Chas. Both run circles around Springer in CF now.
