They were extremely interested in him in the offseason. They just couldn't agree on a deal.
I highly doubt we see LMJ this year. As far as Brantley goes, that's what one of the weirdest things I can remember. Nobody really knows what's going on.Big Al 1992 said:
So no Brantley or LMJ till all star break - if at all this season. Is that what it's looking like - and was kind of predicted early on?

This was an issue on Dusty's teams in the past. He tended to start loading up on sort of hybrid players that had speed but just were not that good.ttha_aggie_09 said:
Remember last year when we got Mancini and Vazquez and Dusty's main comment was we added "speed" to this team? Senile old man
going back to last night's game...Meyers misplay in centerfield was so, so bad...redline248 said:
It's gonna be a tough pill to swallow when the Astros trade Chas to get Bellenger.
Potential World Series saving catch out the door for a giant dbag. That's the difference b/w fandom and business
That's certainly possible. I can't even figure out how he did that, either. Did he take his eyes off it and then lose where it was going? He ran past it by 5 feetW said:going back to last night's game...Meyers misplay in centerfield was so, so bad...redline248 said:

it's the kind of thing that leaves a lasting impression on the new GM.
Jake may be the one that goes
At least he's not Javy Baez.Mathguy64 said:
Julks needs to learn to walk. His BA and SLG are fine. He's not a great defender but you can hide that in LF. He's got decent pop and speed. If his OBA were not his BA he would look a lot better metric wise.
Of course the chance of him learning to walk more at his age and at this level are between slim and none. And that's the problem.
If you listened to the broadcast he hit a sprint speed of like 35 Jake was FLYING to that ball, yall can talk crap all you want, no one else on our team probably gets to that ball. He just ran so fast he wasn't able to slow down and adjust at the end to catch it. The way the ball bounced if it lands in front of an outfielder it still bounces over the fence for a double. However had someone attempted a diving catch to prevent it from hitting the ground cleanly its probably a triple or worse.Mathguy64 said:
I don't think the Jake play was anything more than he took a bad line, tried to make up for it by kicking into 6th gear and just plain overran the drop point. He misjudged it.
Jake has really good instincts and gets great jumps on balls. He makes hard catches look easy. He is also prone to making real gaffes. It's a weird combination.
Correct. And part of the reason why I'd like to not just get a rental for this season. Preferably someone that is at least under contract for next season.W said:
Chas would be under team control thru the 2026 season
Jake thru the 2027 season
Dana has pieces to work with

Possible guys on the current big league team that could have trade value if a deal was out there that required MLB guys to be involved.
Chas
Jake
Julks
Dubon
Martinez
Bielak
France
Blanco
Am I missing anybody?
Doubtful. If that were the case, we'd likely still need to eat a lot of his contract.Big Al 1992 said:tjack16 said:

Surely there's a team out there that thinks all Abreu needs is a change of scenery and will give us something for him. Right?

I guess I see a distinction between talking crap and stating a fact: he f-cked up on that play. We all know he's a great defender.Lonestar_Ag09 said:If you listened to the broadcast he hit a sprint speed of like 35 Jake was FLYING to that ball, yall can talk crap all you want, no one else on our team probably gets to that ball.
