I didn't watch tonight. And it sounds like I didn't miss much.

Toronto isn't a terrible team.

**** happens.

This is also their 14th game in 14 days. They need an off day. Unfortunately, that won't happen until Monday.

Yes, Toronto is talented. But tonight was all self inflicted. Bad baseball in the field, at the plate, on the bases and in the dugout. Mental errors, hustle errors, managerial errors, tootblans, bad body language, it goes on and on. Hopefully rock bottom and we fight our way out. But this was the type of game that merits a team meeting and some ass chewings.

Does anyone have any theories on why Abreu was leaning the wrong way off 2nd except just lack of concentration? Was hard to tell what he was thinking.

Haven't seen it yet, but it sounds like he could use some visits with the sport psych that helped Framber.

I'm going with "he's 40 and didn't take his Prevagen today"

Crane may like to wear the black hat so to speak

and it's reaching the point where the players know that the best guys are not playing

and Crane has surprise-fired a manager before albeit under different circumstances

edit...who by the way...also won a world series

Braves just won a game started by Verlander and Strider that ended 13-10, in 10 innings, on an Albies walk-off bomb.

Imagine hitting the ball?

Crane fires Dusty, Tigers fire AJ, AJ returns home?

I want to believe the players are frustrated too, but all we hear about is how much they love playing for him. I just can't imagine being Diaz or McCormick right now. Plus you have a player getting ABs based simply on his skin color. Is this ****ing 1947??

There is no way that he will can him mid season. Even if they don't make they play offs it will not be a firing. He will just be hanging it up.

Through an interpreter, Jos Abreu said "we lost the game because of me," "I take full responsibility" and "I feel like absolute crap" offensively.

There is probably something to this. The Ags were basically on the road for 3 weeks straight and by the end of it they couldn't buy a hit.

Any special reason Dusty didn't pinch hit for Abreu top of the 9th with 2 outs and down only a run? Once again Dusty does not give this team its best chance to succeed - whether that's lineups, pitching changes, days off, and not managing late game at bats with potential pinch hitters.

I have problems with Dusty too but the manager only impacts the game so much. Players gotta play. Far too often have we been laying eggs this season.

This was one of the worst Astros game I've seen in a very long time due to ineptitude by the manager in constructing a lineup, making no in game changes in high leverage situations, stupid mental and physical errors by several players. Dubon has the highest batting average but never gets in the game even with Alvarez taken out, Diaz doesn't pinch hit for Maldanaldo, and terrible approaches at the plate. Peña not hustling cost us an out and I will not even bring up Abreu's dumb ass base running. No fire and leadership in this team right now. Sad

What really pisses me off is that we should have swept all four games against the Jays. Right now this team is unbearable to watch and it's because we're used to watching them play exciting baseball the last several years. Just don't see the intensity that we're used to seeing.

How many years did Dusty manage before finally winning it all?

Nuff said.

Wait. No it's not.

Being a good manager is wholly different than being your best buddy

The Ranger board is funny. That group always talks about "people from Dallas don't ever think about Houston or their sports teams, much less talk about them." Yet their board is full of talk about....wait for it...the Astros.

I'm pretty sure Abreu and machete need MRI's. How do we make that happen? Maybe Lance can do something useful and bring them along for a bro date?

So Lance will have more MRIs than starts this season.

I mean does it take that much talk for them to understand we have 2 titles and they have 0? It's not that hard.

Let's not forget we did the same thing, started a trash talking thread, and did nothing but roast them while they were at the bottom of the barrel.

Good morning gentlemen. Nothing new to report here except that I'm continuing to be told that we're going to be gunning for an instant impact bat... maybe two. I don't get a ton of scoop on injuries, but if I hear anything at all on Yordan, I'll be sure to let you guys know.

Any idea on timeline? Waiting until the trade deadline or are we going to make a move sooner?

They're working the phones as we speak. The problem is this time of year there's a few teams who are still stuck in the middle between buying and selling. Also, if teams know you're desperate, they're going to demand more in return.

Take the White Sox for example. They have talent on that roster but are underachieving big time. They're going to wait until closer to the deadline to start selling in case they get hot. It's a really weak division after all.

The Phillies are in the same boat. Same with the Guardians, Red Sox, Giants. A couple others as well.

All of these teams have guys (both arms and bats) who I've heard Houston has checked in on. Alex Verdugo, Joc Pederson, Michael Conforto, Zach Wheeler, Aaron Civale, Eloy Jimenez, Lucas Giolito, etc. Things will become a lot more clear over the next few weeks and we should be able to narrow those names down.

The Cubs are almost guaranteed to be sellers and I know for a fact Houston is extremely interested in Cody Bellinger. I've heard Drew Smyly's name tossed around as well. The Cubbies will wait until closer to the deadline to sell.. which is smart, because they'll likely get more in return with more teams in a bidding war.

Also please keep in mind "checked in on" doesn't necessarily mean a strong level of interest. The front office is just doing their due diligence and seeing what's out there.

getting 2 new bats would be great

the manager will need to be convinced to play them

also important...getting rid of the manager's favorites who are playing too much

"Astros traded for prime Johnny Bench tonight, but you know our pitchers like Maldy more so we gotta start him." - Dusty probably

Remember last year when we got Mancini and Vazquez and Dusty's main comment was we added "speed" to this team? Senile old man

Astros are interested in Bellinger now? Why didn't they get him in the offseason?
