It was his first error all season. Maldonado has 4 errors. Diaz also throws out runners at a better clip than Maldonado. However, I'm sure Dusty will come up with a folk tale on why Maldonado should be starting like he always does.Ag_07 said:

It's not the error that was the issue. It was a dumb decision to try a low percentage play with a 2-2 count with 2 outs in a 1 run game.
It's a mistake you expect out of a young player trying to make a play but it's not a smart decision in that situation. Learn from it and move on. In the end it didn't lose us the game because we didn't score but regardless it was a bad decision.
I'm all for Diaz over Maldy but I even I think it was dumb. And I imagine a mistake like that carries quite a bit of weight with a manager like Dusty especially when it's hard for him to get PT anyways.

That screw up smelled like a missed sign. You can't do that without having someone ready to catch the throw. And no one was.

For all the justifiable concern about Bielak, he has put up 2, 1, 1, and now 2 ER in his starts.
In those games, the offense has scored 1, 1, 5 (against an A's staff giving up way more than that to everyone else), and now a fat goose egg.

Bielak has handled his biz well. Inconsistency on offense has been the biggest problem all year and is once again this series.

I have said I am fine with him being our #5 because most #5s aren't very good. The results are absolutely there. The other stuff is mostly not. Moving forward he's probably going to lay some eggs. Be prepared. He doesn't need to keep the act up all year. Just a handful more starts.
Dusty is costing us runs & games with keeping Abreu in the 4/5 spot in the lineup. Insanity at this point.
