That has been a pleasant surprise after starting the season so cold...almost Abreu-like.Dies Irae said:
After last night's game Maldy is 295/380/477 for the month of May. Not bad, guy
A hit piece from Chandler Rome? I'm in absolute shock...Dies Irae said:

Article from the Athletic about Kyle's shaky defense, currently the worst RF'er in the league. Very odd
Things I didn’t think I’d utter in ‘23:

-You can’t afford to take Maldonado out of the lineup
-Dubón w/ a HR & 2 BB tonight
-Corey Julks is starting his 25th game
-Phil Maton has the lowest ERA among Astros relievers
-Jose Abreu can’t hit #Ready2Reign

TED has missed 2 plays he should have made and seems to be actually lollygagging (reaction and burst suck but the route is improved) some of the time. He's young and I don't think anything is physically wrong (no injuries) so it's just about being mentally focused. It's harder to repeat than to win 1. I think when the big moments come TED is going to make the play you need. He's just not going to kill himself in the 3rd inning of an early May game. As Cam would say, its a business decision.Dies Irae said:

Maybe skinny Maldy is truly improved. But catching is physically demanding and I wish we were giving him more rest. I think it is amazing that our organization has been able to allow younger guys reps and seeing who is ready which has paid dividends in our ability to just restock when studs become free agents.Farmer1906 said:
Maldy's last 16 games - 153 wRC+
Maldy's first 19 games - 18 wRC+
For the season he is @ 81 wRC+. He has never played a full season at that level. The closest he came was 2020 (only 47 games) - 107, 2017 (52 games) - 97, and the longest he's gone with a >81 wRC+ is 2012 (78 games) - 97.
Admittedly, I've had to eat a lot of crow this season. I was ready to give up on Dubon and Meyers. So far, they have both proven me very wrong (especially Dubon). I also had much higher expectations for Hensley. He may end up being ok, but man he has looked lost so far. Hopefully he figures something out in Sugarland.bearkatag15 said:Things I didn’t think I’d utter in ‘23:

I agree with a lot of these. Diaz should play 1B a lot more.
good. we need them to keep producing and one be ready to be traded. All I do is Nguyen said:
Jake is starting to look more like he did pre-injury. Which is what I've been wanting to see happen because I had high hopes for him back in '21.
We truly have an abundance of riches with Chas, Jake
Good morning to everyone but Milwaukee, #ThisIsMyCrew fans & something called a @Travis_Sawchik. I realize I’m giving this hack the attention he wanted, but on what planet have the @astros begun any sort of “initial descent”? Just ask the @Brewers.#Ready2Reign🤘🏼🔥#ad @CramCrew pic.twitter.com/8lWbZabUtq

That's what i am saying. Could Chas/Jake move to LF if we can;t re-sign Tucker?Farmer1906 said:Why would you want to trade either?gigemJTH12 said:good. we need them to keep producing and one be ready to be traded. All I do is Nguyen said:

shoot, if they retain 30% of Turner's salary, I'll trade them Abreu.W said:
apparently...Philly fans have turned on Trea Turner and his .693 OPS
booed him the last two nights
in year one...just year 1 of his 11-year contract
who could have seen this coming
I guess "the bank" is as scary for Philly players as it is for visiting players.W said:

All Below Avg Team
1st - Abreu (52 wRC+)
2nd - Gimenez (75)
SS - Correa (93) or Turner (85)
3rd - Machado (81)
LF - Marte (88)
CF - Chisholhm Jr (91)
RF - Springer (87)
As much crap as we give Dusty, Correa is currently batting 2nd for the Twinkies and Springer is still leading off for Toronto. It's still not as egregious as Abreu batting cleanup but just thought I would point it out in the interest of fairness.Farmer1906 said:
