This is a great point! I remember when we acquired him nobody thought he would be batting cleanup for us...and that's the "good" Abreu who had been raking for the White Sox. The fact that he's in the 4 hole between Yordan and Tucker is ****ing mind blowing.
I agree with the poster who said every opposing manager should be instructing his pitchers to essentially unintentionally intentionally walk Yordan each trip to the plate.
I never once even considered going into this year that we would see Alvarez/Tucker back to back because of the lefty lefty situation so wouldn't say nobody
We did however talk about how we wondered what we would do with the lineup because it seems crazy to have him 6th or lower also because he has always been a cleanup hitter.
I'm not saying he should be there now, but your statement is revisionist.
Also I love how we can complain so much after a solid win and in the middle or a great winning streak.
