Vague former Astro 100% sure I would recognize? Absolutely none. There's a good chance if Biggio was driving an Uber I wouldn't recognize him

Any trade before the deadline will be a pretty significant overpay. Unless he absolutely has to (which is possible), I doubt he makes a move before then.

France looked good and so long as our BP doesn't absolutely collapse we should be okay until Urquidy comes back

I was in favor of signing a free agent starting pitcher this past offseason. Yes, SP is/was a strength of ours, but I had no faith in LMJ playing much (or at all). This would put us one injury away from needing another starting pitcher. As it turns out, we've lost 2 (1 until Urquidy comes back). I'm not talking about a big, expensive free agent. I thought it would be good to sign someone that could be an effective 4th or 5th.

Obviously we didn't do that. So now we're kind of hoping a lot of stars align - Urquidy returns, France and Bielak can pitch effectively over the next month or so, and LMJ comes back. Plus hoping for no more injuries. We'll see how it goes.

So the Mets were smart enough to not toss crazy money at DeGrom but couldn't help themselves throwing crazy money at JV and a cheating blue Merle. It's a toss up as to which was the "better" choice.

I don't expect any trades for SP unless we have another injury. We can get by for a month with unknown 4/5. It's not like Urquidy represents a huge upgrade either. Lance does though and the way they are treating him, they're willing to wait as long as it takes to get him ready.

I would as soon as we can reasonably do it. The schedule have fewer off days starting at the end of May.

I imagine the team has done a good cost comparison of what an MLB ready #4 or 5 starter would be vs rolling with Bielak/JP/Whitely (assuming he was ever part of a backup plan)

Right. Now the question is how do they reassess with 1 guy out permanently and 1 other with no real time table for returning? I would interpret recent moves as them preparing Blanco to be in the mix if JP and Bielak struggle. I bet they will gamble a bit on being able to get by, especially once Altuve starts playing.
