I was in favor of signing a free agent starting pitcher this past offseason. Yes, SP is/was a strength of ours, but I had no faith in LMJ playing much (or at all). This would put us one injury away from needing another starting pitcher. As it turns out, we've lost 2 (1 until Urquidy comes back). I'm not talking about a big, expensive free agent. I thought it would be good to sign someone that could be an effective 4th or 5th.
Obviously we didn't do that. So now we're kind of hoping a lot of stars align - Urquidy returns, France and Bielak can pitch effectively over the next month or so, and LMJ comes back. Plus hoping for no more injuries. We'll see how it goes.
