He's not obscure but getting in an Uber driven by Ken Giles could be pretty eventful. I'd keep him driving places until someone cut him off in traffic.

I think my most random encounter with an Astro was way back in the early 2000s. Went to Sherwin Williams with my dad and Scott Elarton was inside.

That's ironic because he wasn't a painter.

Bah doom pah

Thank you very much you have been a great crowd

My only memory of Scott Elarton was watching Sammy Sosa hit a 600 ft home run off of him while sitting in the diamond club in 2000. I can't tell you what Scott Elarton looks like, but thanks to him I can tell you what it looks like when someone hits a ball 3/4 of the way up the light pole in left center field.

I love Yordan, but that's a pretty ridiculous take, IMO. Yordan just turned 26 and has 106 career HR. Pujols had 201 HR through his age 25 season and had to limp to the finish line with Manfred juicing his balls the whole way.

More than anything, he just wont be healthy enough. Pujols played in more games in 11 of his first 12 seasons than Yordan has ever played in a season.

It's unreasonable. He could hit 50 a season for the next 10 years and he probably lay still couldn't get to 600.

Saying anyone will end up with 700 home runs is a pretty insane take

500 is probably a reasonable goal

Even that is a stretch.

For his career, he is averaging a home run every 15.76 PA. If he gets 600 PA a season (hasn't done it before) for the next 10 years and holds that rate, he'll hit another 380 to go along with his 106. That is assuming a ridiculous amount of health and no decline into his mid-30s. And even then he'd have to play into his later 30s to get there.

Sure is nice having an off day on a winning streak...even if it's only 2 games.

Yeah, I don't think he even ends as the franchise leader in HR. The single biggest threat to any record is his own health. He's already missed a whole season, albeit the COVID one. But he missed a whole year of playing time nonetheless.

Funny off-day discussion...

Who is the most vague former Astro who you are 100% confident you would recognize if he was your Uber driver? I think it's Mike Gallo for me
I'd prob go with Eric "Bruntlett Jihad" Bruntlett. Dude was a gamer, and yes, that was only a nickname among friends.

Saw Biggio in the Whata at 610 and Main not long after he retired. He kinda seemed like a dick, but i probably hold a grudge for him passing right over me for an autograph when i was a kid.

I'm curious why Canning decided to challenge Yordan yesterday in the 1st after already going high once. Seems like he was asking for it. Hopefully pitchers will keep doing it and continue to pay for it.

That Saturday day start after a night game will probably be TBA's toughest test. Not even 24 hours rest but if anyone can do it, TB "Rubber Arm" A, can do it!!!

If manfred was juicing your balls, you'd be limping too

Bagwell's numbers in a full season that year would have been a sight to behold. 39 hrs, 116 rbi in 110 games? Pretty sure he was walking around with a winstrol IV at that time, but still. If I remember correctly he had a slugging of like .800

Off days. I'm re-watching Fastball. Great doc if you haven't seen it. Narrated by Kevin Costner. It's on FreeVee

speaking of the Mets...

another older player that has hit the wall in 2023...Starling Marte (age 34)

.563 OPS in 33 games

only 5 x-base hits in 120 at-bats --- power has disappeared

More amazing than his stance is his ability to see and hit the ball with that red blob in front of his eyes
