It's only been a few months and there really hasn't been much to judge him on yet.

I like his attitude and his demeanor. He doesn't seem to be one to spout coach speak which is nice.

Let's at least see how he does with the chance to add some pieces here at the deadline.

I like him too and know it is a small sample size but we've all seen wtf lineups and as GM you have to have to have those discussions with Dusty - I'm sure they are going on but too many head scratchers, especially as depleted as we have been.

With the offense obviously struggling, and coming off a night where we got shutout, Dusty puts Hensley in the lineup as DH over Diaz (or even Julks). It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Put a good lineup out there and support our ace for Christ's sake.

Plus, he continues to not pinch hit in late game situations. Asleep at the wheel is the best way I can describe it. Very frustrating.

Dusty did it with Click too so it's not something that's exclusive to Dana.

Hopefully when guys start coming back we'll start to weed out some of the guys who don't belong on the big league club.

Avoiding getting swept in every series except one since last year has been huge for the Astros and is a big reason I haven't worried about this team so far. Need Brantley to take some pressure off this lineup along with Abreu obviously.

They're gonna hear plenty boos in Seattle which seems to help them flip the switch. We'll see.

Dusty is probably even more uncontrollable now after riding shotgun to a title. What is the org gonna do no matter how much he ignores Dana or any other informed baseball minds, fire him? A beloved figure in the game coming off a championship?

Seth Beer was DFA'd by Arizona today. Good thing Luhnow got Greinke for him (and others) because Houston's first round pick in 2018 hasn't worked out so far. Also getting Pena in the third round that year was a steal:

I agree it's a conundrum. I had a bad feeling before the season that Dusty would take his skin on the wall and sleep walk through the regular season. But these lineup decisions go beyond sleepwalking. They really make no sense at all. The number one job (by far) for a coach is to put your team and your players in the best situation to succeed. What he has done to Diaz is just criminal. What else is Diaz supposed to do? He had a great game yesterday and now we won't see him for 4 days. WTF?

one interesting aspect to the signing of the 36-year old Abreu...

if his power numbers don't recover...and he ends up having a disappointing season...

will it make the front office gun shy about committing to other players into their late 30's

JV is returning just in time.

the Tigers swept a doubleheader from NYM today and shelled Scherzer in his first start after his suspension.

JV is debuting in game #32, so he missed 5 or 6 starts to begin the year

Considering the trend with Abreu began last year, perhaps if nothing else it will encourage us to do our full due diligence with older FAs in future? But, man, I like most thought it was a slam-dunk signing. I wasnt completely thrilled with 3 years, but I thought he would fit in well with our lineup. Hopefully he turns it on soon.

I don't know about you but I get mildly depressed when there's no baseball on the next day.

My dad passed away about 4 years ago after a pretty difficult bout with pancreatic cancer. All of us kids helped mom take care of him, but I would be so drained after doing it, all I wanted to do when I got home was plop on the couch and watch 3.5 hours of the Astros with my wife and kids. When there was no baseball it would make me super depressed, it doesn't affect me as much anymore, but I'm still really sad that there's no baseball on tomorrow

Dana came along late in the off-season, so I blame the de facto GM Bagwell and the asst GMs for the roster. I will blame Dana for not having a chat to wake Dusty up from his slumber and look at the results and statistics - you know that fan stuff.

I was watching this game on MLB TV and saw this.



He should probably expect to be thrown at tomorrow, but I absolutely rewound it several times to see it over and over. I'd be pissed if it was against us, though.

Was the bat flip that bad? Didn't seem like it from that clip.

The infield grounder stunt is inexcusable not just from a a-hole aspect but a 'WTF happens if you drop that flip and it costs us an out' angle.
