I'm clearly not as excited about extending Pressly as you. We had him last year regardless and I'm not convinced his health holds up even this year.

Why do you think he won't be healthy? Too much wear? He's been near to the top of the league games played for the last several years.

It has been a rough night for Sugar Land, but I'll take any night at the ballpark I can get.

A Yankee Stadium unicorn. Must have been the wind/open air/ect

There was definitely some magic going on in the first inning.

My man Kiner Falafel pitched a scoreless 9th.

Fun night for our 9u kiddos. Won 17-1, my son batted 4 times 2 walks, 2 hits, 3 runs 4rbi and had an assist 4-3

I don't love it. I get it tho. We have a ton of great OF prospects that look to be passing Leon. But Leon has elite speed, a great arm, and is most valuable in CF where he can use his tools.

I'm watching the Asheville Tourists (High A), they were down 7-4 in the eighth. Logan Cerny walked, stole second and third, scored on a sac fly. After two outs they got a couple singles and Drew Gilbert hit a bloop shot that an outfielder dove for and trapped. He threw it past third and the tying run scored.

Kenedy Corona is showing some pop tonight. Hit a ball off the left field wall earlier and just drove one on a line to CF warning track where it was caught.

Asheville takes an 8-7 lead in the tenth, and we'll see if they can hold it.

Edit: First pitch double ties the game. Lol.

Having all the minor league games live on MLB TV this season is fantastic. I watched a little of the Fayetteville game tonight and they were rocking their version of our tequila sunrise uniforms and the prototype hat:

that contract was a disaster from day one...as numerous posters predicted

but the Tigers took the cheese.

and now they are desperately hoping Baez will opt out after 2024.

newsflash: he won't

Just to wrap up the Asheville game, the 10th inning had a great defensive play/baserunner mistake that could have ended the game.

Bases loaded, 2 outs. Batter hits a smash to first baseman Collin Price, who makes the play on a slight sliding stop and races to first. Batter decides to go headfirst in, and ends up fingertips short as Price taps the bag for the force. Would have ended the game! There were only two umps and I don't know how he made the right call.

In the 11th, Freudis Nova hits a two run shot to left center field and we manage to shut the door on Greenville in the bottom of the inning. Tourists win 10-8.

Time to BTSOOTR!

question for those who go to Sugarland games....thinking of taking the family to a game soon. I've got two 5 year olds so I am curious about the water park and ticket options. Yall suggest getting reserved seats, or is it better to just get outfield general admission seats and let them play out there? Wondering how bust the water stuff, playground areas gets? Any tips are welcome. Haven't been to the ballfield there in a handful of years back when it was the skeeters.

We just buy the lawn/general admission tickets when we go, unless it's a big event (big giveaway items, rehab start, july 4, ect).
There will be enough empty seats down the line you can find some if you want/need to sit down.
The hill views aren't bad, and you can also bring a blanket or camping chairs (but beware the slant of the hill makes camping chairs somewhat uncomfortable).

Prepay for parking. It's $5 (I think) cheaper to buy before the day of.

The splashpad and playground can get pretty busy, but it has never been overwhelming (except when the Astros visited this year). We have never had a problem keeping an eye on our kids, but just know that you can't see the splashpad from the opposite side of the playground.

We typically bring a drawstring bag to throw the wet clothes in and have the kids change in the bathrooms by the playground.

Speaks to the deal we got for Javier and is a good comp for Framber. He still may wait it out for a shot at something longer term since he's older.

I feel really good about Javier's deal. I'm worried he takes a substantial regression to the mean after an amazing last year; but even if he does step back to 120-130 ERA+ pitcher, it's a good deal.

I truly believe Framber is going to deservedly demand more and we're going to let him walk. Thus the drive to get Blanco stretched out and ready to start and the dedication to sticking with Forrest.

We will enjoy his next two and then continue our trend of staying young.

The great Frambino is a top 5 started in all of baseball, I think you're right. He's going to want a contract somewhere north of what Zach Wheeler got, probably 6/150 or something.

Framber may be "older" but he still doesn't have many innings in his career. Did he pitch a ton in the minors?

I don't think age has anything to do with it. Its just a matter of we aren't going to pay bigger on him when we have Brown Young and controllable, Blanco younger and controllable and Forrest younger and controllable.

Same issue with Ted, it isnt that he doesnt deserve what he is going to ask. Its that we dont see the value in that contract with out depth in the OF.

Totally different scenario with Bregman and Pena. And hopefully Jose sees the beauty of a single team and takes something team friendly

One more note. His double yesterday was his first extra-base hit of the season.

Even with depth in the outfield, Tucker is a superstar. I know we just had this situation with Correa...but can we afford to play that same game again?

Across 2 and now maybe 3 GMs we had a plan where we only sign free agents on very rare situations.

Only thrice I can remember going out and offer 3-4 year deals to free agents. It was Reddick, Abreu, & Montero (2/3 we're done without a GM). I guess you could count Neris. He has a 3rd year option.

We let JV (after TJ), Brantley, & Montero hit FA and then sign them. We let Marwin, Morton, Keuchel, Cole, Correa, Greinke, & Springer all walk.

We like to extend early. JV, Alvarez, Altuve, Bregman, Javier, Pressly, Yuli (twice?), Maldy, and probably more I'm not remembering.

Wasn't Pressly an early extension?
