and he's making 14.5mil over the next two years

Dubon makes 1.4....that is why one is on the team and the other isnt

Dubon has sucked since his arrival.

I'd much rather see Aledmys over Dubon.

They both may suck at the plate but at least he brings high quality defense.

Well based on all of the posts on this thread, I'm expecting the top half of this line-up, plus one, to absolutely rake this afternoon.

I understand that the team wants to use this time to figure out what we have with our next men up. I can be patient, I just wish we wouldn't throw 4 of them in at the same time. Feels like yesterday was the worst lineup imaginable with Julks, Meyers, Dubon, Maldy. Now watch Dusty sun Diaz for Yordan today without additional changes just to prove he can do worse.

When we were trying to limit our bullpen yesterday, why would you give Framber that crappy amount of run support. Why is Chas not considered an everyday starter making Meyers play his way into the role versus giving the CF to Meyers and forcing Chas to play his way in.

Let Meyers and Dubon play 2 days a week, but Hensley and Chas have earned the roles IMO and should be playing the other 5 days. Julks and Diaz are getting fair playing time, just don't put them in when Meyers and Dubon are playing. Let Diaz and Julks give Yordan, Abreau and Tucker a day off occasionally.

Dubon 2x per week
Meyers 2x per week
Diaz 2x per week
Julks 2x per week
Salazar 1x per week

That is fair to the new guys to show their worth and better than most clubs allow for journeyman type players who aren't perceived as haven proved theirselves to be everyday players yet. These guys are getting better playing time than Tucker or Altuve did in their first seasons.

We can complain all day long by the back of the order hitting, but then it rolls over and 1/2 spots have been just as bad if not worse to start the year.

Because one of those spots is Alex Freakin Bregman and the other just led us to a title.

Because there is a difference between proven guys in a slump to guys who look completely overmatched and have no business being on the roster much less getting regular PT.

For example Mr. Corey Julks. Dude has looked so out of sorts and overmatched then gets a nice single and gets picked off 1B.

Guys who get their first taste of The Show typically have a steep learning curve before they "get it." I can understand the growing pains with Julks and Diaz (play him), but Meyers and Dubon, they've had enough time in the majors. They are what they are. I don't see any improvement.

Play Chas. Trade Jake.

This is honestly the best we can hope for with Meyers. Trade him for some prospects and then go from there

I'm certainly not saying we should bench them or anything. I'm just saying that as we all sit here and complain 6 games into the season, the reality is that outside of 3,4,5, the lineup has been a black hole. Add in giving up 6-7 runs per game and its why we've only won 2 games

I am not sure sure we know what Jake is. He has about 2/3 of a season's worth of PA over 3 seasons with an injury in the middle.

With Jake, I'm not so much concerned about his bat as I am with his arm. Yes, he was a college pitcher, but it seems after the shoulder injury, the throwing strength hasn't returned. His bat at this point, coupled with his lack of arm strength -- to me -- doesn't constitute a spot on the major league roster.

The kid needs a fresh start somewhere else.

Check the #s. His arm isn't great but it's fine.

Here is Dusty on what he's doing.

Just play everyone because it gives them confidence.

I believe he has had 3 balls hit to him this season....imo you can't count 2022, he was obviously not right and not yet healthy

I looked at the numbers. Farmer, you are right. Jake's arm is very average -- just like Chas.

But career OPS for Jake is lower than Chas.

Neither is a great option -- we know that -- but if it is between the two, I'm going with Chas.

I am too. He's proven it. That doesn't mean we toss Jake out. With Brantley on the IL, we have opportunities to give him ABs. Let's do it and not split it with Julks or limit Chas.

You can not make a straight comparison between the two when half of Jakes Career (2022) he was injured

Maybe he never gets there again but he hasn't even played the equivalent of a full season. To write that guy off is astronomically stupid! No one on here is saying that he should be playing more, no one is saying he should have started the opener but to write a kid off who has potential is just plain dumb. If he never gets there so be it, hopefully Chaz does or Leon or Gilbert and we have a CF'er of the future.

Someone asked who would trade for him, every team. Every single team would take that guy at least in their system. I would bet 15 or so would take him and he would play if not daily more often than not. The same would be said of Chaz. That doesn't mean they would trade something that we would accept but if he was DFA'd today every team would have interest

One way to "build confidence" in your players is setting them up for success and letting them contribute to winning games. For example, allow Hensley to bunt (productive AB) to move Chas, which would allow Dubon to hit the walk-off sac fly. Just "playing players" doesn't build confidence. But what does? Contributing to a W.
