Ready for Framber to throw six innings tonight now that Breg's hitless streak is done.
Time to get the pitchers off their streak too.

The pen is a wreck. Frankly we need a CG from Framber. I'll settle for him getting into the 7th. I would love to see him be efficient and get through 7. Getting through 5 would be a disaster.

I wouldn't go that far but it ain't great. I was hoping Blanco would give us 2+ last night but I guess that wasn't in the plans. We should probably send Martinez down and bring up Bielak, Dubin, France, Gage, Paredes, or Whitley since they're all on the 40 man. We need a fresh arm.
I think I heard on the broadcast last night you can't swap out players in the first 10 days of the season.

Not a problem. Seth has a flexor strain. 10 day IL incoming.

Right? We need a long reliever.

Is Bielak the choice if Martinez has "discomfort?"

With as far down into the analytics rabbit hole as this organization is I imagine there is a number calculated by some algorithm that was developed by some MIT nerd that says not bunting is the better play.

There has to be
The ONLY reasoning I can personally justify is they think Hensley has a better chance of a hit than Dubon has at putting the ball in play at all. However, you still have the batter after Dubon.

Of course, this all assumes the bunt is successful. Maybe Hensley sucks at bunting, idk

Chas should've been on third base after Hensleys groundout

Ball was hit in front of him to the SS. He's dead if he goes on contact and dead if he waits to go after the SS throws to first. You almost never run on a grounder hit to your right when you are on second base.

It's funny when the pitchers know a guy is going to take balls and they still can't get it in the zone

And currently a 4 game hitting streak - 5 if you count his bomb in game 6!

Thoughts on the bullpen tonight:

Stanek has to pitch tonight. I would guess everyone but Maton & Harris are available. I doubt we want to use Blanco or Pressly unless we have to (extras). Anyone throwing today besides Stanek won't be available tomorrow.

In my defense, it wasn't so much sh*t talking as it was me effectively pointing out a very miscalculated fact about an altuve & semien comparison, and then so many of them began to cry and scream and call for staff to kick me off if i wasn't a rangers fan.... so then i might have laughed at them a little for being so easily offended..... I took my 24hr ban with a smile.

He makes it easily if he reacts initially

Baez was ranging way over to his left and had no momentum to make a play to third (unless Chas decided late)

It's still better to not react then react late by Chas

But he could've easily advanced

Has anyone seen our top prospect with a 55 Hit and 55 Power tool? Lets give Diaz a shot. He has the most potential out of our bench bats.

Chas's 0-5 last night certainly didn't help his case for more starts in CF.

He's still one of the more proven bats out of the guys that are in the lineup after the 5 spot.

I guess this is good news. Still sounds like he's still quite a bit away from being fully back.

Here was my guess in the off-season thread from a few weeks ago.

Quote:

Let's try to put a timeline to this.

McCullers started throwing mid April on flat ground last year. He made his first rehab start in mid July. He threw 5 (I believe) rehab starts before coming up and finish the season and postseason.

If everything is the same he should be ready to go at the end of July. However, everything isn't the same. This is not a tendon strain like 2022. LMJ talked about still pitching 150-160. That would mean 25-30 starts.

My GUESS would be he's about 6 weeks behind. Assuming no new setbacks, he'll be ready to start games for the Astros in mid June. That means he could probably give us close to 100 innings plus the postseason.
If he can start throwing off a mound by the end of the month, how long does it take to get stretched out? How many rehab starts? Maybe this moves his return to the start of June?

No problem with the lineup tonight. Just gotta tread water until Brantley and Altuve get back. Hopefully these at bats will help the young guys if we need depth in the postseason
