In 2022, Pena had a .289 on base %, struck out ~24% of plate appearances, and had a K/BB ratio of 6.14.
So far, in '23 he's at .389 on base %, struck out ~21% of PA, and K/BB of 2.5
As a team, the Astros are searching for the power. Only 3 home runs, and only 3 doubles so far this year.

that's where the Astros really miss Altuve.
he has the ability to pull the ball with power even though the pitch is on the outer half.
it seems a lot of the guys are going the other way to get their hits...which is fine -- especially in RISP situations -- but they lose power when they do so (except for Yordan)

On the bright side, we're 5 games in and Yordan is on pace for 65 HR and 292 RBI.

The combo of Chas + Hensley + Dubon + Maldy is a complete zero in the XBH department
On April 30, 2022 the Astros were 11-10 and in 3rd place in the AL West behind Seattle and LAA. We alright.

To be fair, the whole team has 6 XBH and Yordan has 3 of them. Pretty much the whole team minus Yordan is a complete 0 in that department right now.

Those calculations don't take into effect the ballpark, just the exit velo and launch angle. That's why weak flyballs to RF in yankee stadium can have .100 average and still be a HR
I think the joke was that Dusty would never do that....nothing to do with Jose
xBA is based on a composite of all stadiums, and none of the other have the Crawford Boxes. It wasn't a well-hit ball, but it was not likely catchable. I would have been upset that an Astro LFer didn't stop early turn around and play it off the wall instead of trying to catch a ball that hit 10 ft up the wall.

Only way you make that catch is maybe if your at the wall, 6" taller and able to time the jump straight up and rob it like a HR...thats an extremely difficult thing to do.

what in the world makes you think Hensley will be full time 2B until Altuve is ready? or that Yordan will be full time DH? there is literally nothing that suggests that will be the case in either words of past actions by dusty.

Any AL West left fielder knows there isnt a chance on those and plays the bounce off the wall. The second ball hits the wall like 3-4' above his head and the other is out of reach as well
