On a podcast over the off-season, Ross Stripling was signed by the giants and said he'd have to "have a sit down serious conversation with Carlos" if they also signed Correa

So maybe not ALL of it is just fan sound bites

Yainer Update

Catcher Rankings (min 100 PA)

5th - xBA (.280)
4th - BA (.281)
2nd - xSLG (.577)
2nd - SLG (.509)
5th - xwOBA (.365)
9th - wOBA (.335) - lack of walks is keeping him from the elite.
25th - BABIP (.286) - for someone who hits the piss out of the ball, that seems a little low. Clearly, this ain't a fluke.

I honestly thought Kershaw was washed and was a candidate to have a bad year at his age. Dude is still really good. I wouldn't mind exploring bringing him in next season on a 2 year deal if the Dodgers happen to pass on him
He signed a one year deal for $20 million for '23.

With that kind of discount and term length the Dodgers will resign him each year until he sucks or retires.

I don't know what I'll do if the Astros acquire Bellinger. I'll have to come up with a new schtick for him. At lest temporarily.

Until then, he can EAD

Ross and Joe Kelly were both on the Dodgers in 2019. In 2020, Ross was on the Dodgers, but started 7 games for them before being traded to Toronto. Mookie joined the Dodgers in 2020.

I am certain Ross and Joe discussed the Astros stuff as well as the Red Sox stuff. Who knows if he had time to even have a relationship with Mookie.

I am also certain most of that Dodgers team discussed the Astros stuff with Joe. Joe was on those Sox teams in '14-'16, so he also would have seen the stuff going on with the Yankees then too.

I think the Astros' end is ok with Cody. I'm honestly curious if, at this point in his career, Cody is ok with the Astros.

I'm telling y'all.... there will be no tension whatsoever.

Would be hilarious if somehow we got him like today and he made his Astros debut at Dodger stadium Friday

Are you saying the Astros have already checked in with the Bellinger camp?

I believe from the Astros side there will be no tension at all.

Agreed everyone knows they were all doing maybe but for a few dummy pitchers

The Bellinger and Astros camps have been in touch for a while now. They were serious about him this past offseason. Everyone has moved on from the past and both sides just want to win baseball games.

Or he realizes he can get a multi year deal with another team for a higher average… if the dodgers choose to not offer that deal there is an opportunity

Kershaw feels like a two team guy to me. He's either going to finish his career with the Dodgers or finish it with the Rangers.

Maybe I'm wrong but it always seems like Kershaw fizzles out towards the end of the season and in the postseason.

His back will eventually flare up and he'll have an IL stint in the second half then wear out down the stretch.

Not exactly the A guys going for both teams…. But won't get much more of a hostile environment for the new guys than this

The postseason issues are the only thing keeping him from being elite making the elite. He's got a career 2.72 ERA with a 76.2 WAR. 3 seasons of sub 2 ERA. Only 3 seasons above 3 ERA. Maybe the last 200 game winner. Approaching 3000 strike outs.

Yainer gets 2 hits and gets dropped in the lineup.

Can dubon play first? Been asked before but wasnt sure. Abrue sucks again so trading for a first baseman has to be number 1 priority right?
He's starting at first today.

I'm ok with it, b/c I think Bregman is a strong 4 hole option. Unless you want to flip Diaz and Tucker

He didn't get dropped from the lineup. That's a start. Baby steps.

Tucker-Diaz 1-2. Let's go!

Tongue in cheek comment about Yainer. As Math said, I am just happy he's in the lineup again.

Looks like Bellinger has cooled off, lately. Hasn't homered since April 30. In fact, since May 1 he's hitting:
.200/.256/.271, with only 4 RBI and 20 K (78 PA)

Gotta win today, but the Mets are still reeling and trying to get right as well. Glad that Javi is on the bump.

He didn't have a single AB from 5/15-6/15. He just came back from the IL. It'll take him a bit to get his timing back.

I give props to Boone for doing that show and to Jake for mixing it up with him. The only part that is off was when Boone dropped the mine about "when you manage the team". That was dumb.
