Sorry if already posted, but FYI.

I wanted to bump this for y'all. We are back on Apple TV next Friday. Listening to the radio broadcast for Yordan's blast was awesome. Watching it on our 120" projector with the radio broadcast even better!

What does this feature say about the quality of the Apple+ broadcast audio?

Chas picked a bad time to get hurt

playing time in the outfield is going to get very tight once the first veteran (Altuve or Brantley) returns

starting to wonder if Dubon will eat into Pena's starts...especially against right-handed pitchers

Incredible win tonight.

Those of you who had Dubon turning into Ichiro this season, turn in your bingo card.

Dubon is seriously playing way onto the everyday roster. I just don't know who's spot he takes when uncle Mike and Altuve get back

I'm not convinced that Dubon is a new player, I think he is just a MLB player on a hot streak, BUT if he continues this level of play, then I would assume he would get a lot of innings in CF once everyone is healthy.

So fun topic. It's 10 years since we moved to the AL. One could argue it's been the best thing that could have happened to this franchise.

What would the last 10 years have looked like if we had stayed in the NL? Also how would recent MLB history as a whole be changed?

Pena looks completely lost at the plate right now. Sure, a HR in a game where we had a late lead against TOR. He is still having massive problems with the slider and other offspeed. Why would a pitcher EVER throw him a FB??

It seems to me he's playing his way into the Aledmys/Marwin roll, which is exactly where we wanted him all along. First guy off the bench who will play regularly enough giving other players days off.

At this rate put Dubon at SS and give him Pena's ABs.

I know this is going to be the popular Hot Take of the season, but Yainer really needs to be getting about 40% of the starts behind the dish. I know Dusty is going to give Machete plenty of rope, but at this point it seems natural to at least truly platoon the two.

We still would have had the tear down and rebuild. That was a function of McLane taking money out of the ML and MiL system before selling.

I don't know that we would have traded for Yordan as we would not have needed a DH. Maybe we would have and pushed his progress to 1B.

Obviously we would have had to fight with LAD at the LDS or LCS level. And who knows if we make the JV trade. Much less the Cole one.

I don't think they traded Yordan with idea he'd only be DH I don't see any scenario where they don't still make that trade.

Dodgers wanted a pitcher, Astros picked a prospect they liked.

The funniest part of the deal to me was that there were two Y. Alvarez prospects in the Dodgers system and there was almost a hangup involving them thinking we wanted the other, a pitching prospect as I recall.

That's the Vegas L's...well apparently not last night. Rangers too busy Gallo-ing each other to be bothered to get up for a cellar dwellar.

Uncle Mike DH so you have a lineup of

Altuve
Brantley
Breggy
Yordan
Tucker
Abreu
Dubon
Pena
Diaz*

*When Hunter is pitching unless Dusty pulls his head out of his ass...so basically when Hunter is pitching but that is a lineup of death ladies and gentlemen. If everyone is hitting like they "should" there is absolutely no breathing room whatsoever for opposing pitchers..,unless Dubon is hitting like he "should."

I really thought eliminating the leg kick gave him that extra few milliseconds to recognize slider...and spit on it. Hopefully he figures it out soon.

Yordan in high leverage situations this season:
3 HR, 19 RBI, .546/.643/1.273. That's an OPS of 1.916

MLB's definition of HL: " Created by Tom Tango, Leverage Index measures the importance of a particular event by quantifying the extent to which win probability could change on said event, with 1.0 representing a neutral situation.

For instance, if a team trailing by three runs had the bases loaded with two outs in the eighth inning, the ensuing plate appearance would register an LI above 1.0. This is because the outcome of the game could dramatically change on that one plate appearance. Conversely, if a team trailing by four runs has a man on first with one out in the top of the ninth inning, the ensuing plate appearance would register an LI below 1.0."

He's not going to win any batting titles, but there's no reason he can't finish the season with the .700ish OPS he came into last nights game with. That's all anyone ever hoped for from him offensively.

The batting average & the hitting streak have made people focus on him, but what he's doing overall really isn't that far out of the ordinary for him. He had a .730ish OPS in just under 300 PAs over his first 2 seasons.
So its not such a huge anomaly that you couldn't attribute it to hard work & being at peak performance age.

Yes, because some of us have been watching baseball for long enough not anoint or bail out on guys after 80 ABs. Peña is going to have a good career and play in an All-Star game or two.

That said, I don't think anyone thinks he's going to be a league MVP & I don't know what exactly you mean by "massive" but I have no problem gambling on him being a very good player by offering him a long contract.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm not so sold on Peña yet. I like him a lot but he has some holes in his swing that could be problematic. With all of the young talent we have there is too much opportunity cost to tie up big dollars with so many question marks

But unless he could learn to play 1B he doesn't see the field. And that position was locked down by Yuli.

If you're confident go ahead and start that Peña is a bust thread. That worked wonders for Tuck ;-)

Just remember he's a second year player. He's shown flashes of brilliance and had times where's he incredibly frustrating to watch struggle. The jury is still out and only time will tell, but he's got lots of time to get it figured out.
