I think the issue is he starts in foul territory and then crosses onto the inside part of the line. If he doesn't cross the line, but at most stays on it and hits the outside part of the bag, I would think it was no problem.Marvin said:
Not sure about that call on Tucker. He ran inside the line but was at the bag. The bag is in fair territory, so where was he supposed to touch it? You can't run in foul territory through the bag.
yeah I've never really understood how you're all the sudden supposed to matrix onto the bag (which is fully in fair territory) while running in foul territory.Marvin said:

bad news for our next opponentBrutal news for Pittsburgh: shortstop Oneil Cruz fractured his ankle after an awkward slide into home plate. White Sox catcher Seby Zavala appeared to say something to Cruz afterward, prompting a benches-clearing incident as Cruz writhed on the ground nearby.

You're not supposed to. The last step is when you can cross over. It sucks to get that call against you, but that was exactly the situation the rule was written for.Harry Dunne said:yeah I've never really understood how you're all the sudden supposed to matrix onto the bag (which is fully in fair territory) while running in foul territory.Marvin said:

I mean, there is an outside part of the bag that is on the line, and if you go to the outside part of the bag if you establish your line in foul territory, you would be fine.Harry Dunne said:yeah I've never really understood how you're all the sudden supposed to matrix onto the bag (which is fully in fair territory) while running in foul territory.Marvin said:

Yes, according to the rulebook.Harry Dunne said:
So if you get hit in a fair territory on the last step, you're safe?
Genuinely asking. I guess I don't really know the rule.

Yainer Díaz is also starting to pick it up offensively. He struck a 107.4 mph single and a 98.2 mph double in his last two plate appearances today, after starting the season 0-for-10. https://t.co/kOmgyipiZC

Is it just me or is he choking up on the bat more than normal? I know he always has choked up and especially with 2 strikes but this year it seems it's even more pronounced than usual.W said:
hey, the Astros won a Dubon start.
one thing for Pena...when he connects...it is usually for power. He has 5 x-base hits.
Bregman...still zero x-base hits in 40 at-bats. Digging a size-able hole in the slugging % category

So first game with Diaz catching = best pitching performance of the year

I hope Yainer hits his way into the lineup. He needs ABs, we need his bat & at this point Maldy belongs on the bench.
