Worst possible match up imaginable...a team that shoots lights out from 3 and doesn't commit fouls. Plus we played right into their hands by settling for jumpers and 3's.redline248 said:
bball was fun to watch until the 2 most recent games. what a disaster

It's not about the WBC, it's about playing on a team with guys from your own community. Think how fierce the rivalry must be from all these smaller countries about who produces the best baseball players or whose all-time great is the best.Ag_07 said:
This is surprising...I get national pride and I know in Latin countries it holds more weight but c'mon.
The WBC is only what 15 years old and happens every what 4 years?
You means these guys grow up dreaming of playing in the WBC and not the WS? They play in streets of the DR pretending they're in the WBC and not the WS?
Bet it's a different answer for guys who've played in WS as opposed to those who haven't. It's a lot harder and a lot more work to get to a WS rather than a WBC.
To everyone hating on the WBC because of the Edwin Diaz injury, just know that you’re on the old man yelling at a cloud side of the fence on this one. pic.twitter.com/AjTyPvPVku

Jeremy Peña: "A lot of people are saying (the WBC) is meaningless. To us, it's an honor to represent our country. It means a lot to us. (Díaz's injury is) unfortunate, but for me, if I get the opportunity to do it again, I'll definitely do it again"

How is this any different that Spring Training? The pitchers are truly the only concern, since they may pitch longer than they are ready for this time of the year. The other players would be playing ST games anyway.EastCoastAgNc said:Jeremy Peña: "A lot of people are saying (the WBC) is meaningless. To us, it's an honor to represent our country. Wrap them in bubble wrap and send them off to play in the WBC.
Spring training is not high stakes. Players get emotional because they view the WBC as a big stage where the games have big implications. They get emotionally invested and take risks they wouldn't take in spring training.n_touch said:How is this any different that Spring Training? Unfortunately it's a numbers game. With the bullpen depth we currently have, there's very little room to add anybody, and you know Dusty is gonna push hard for any extra slot to be filled with a left hander.tjack16 said:EastCoastAgNc said:Roster cuts in Astros camp today: Enoli Paredes was optioned; Matt Ruppenthal, Austin Hansen, Ross Adolph, Grae Kessinger and Luke Berryhill were reassigned.

2020 Enoli was fun while it lasted
Quote:
Astros: Miguel Ullola, RHP (No. 12)
Signed for just $75,000 out of the Dominican Republic in 2021, Ullola reminds club officials of Cristian Javier at a similar stage of their careers because of his ability to dominate hitters with his heater alone. Working at 93-95 mph and reaching 98 with a flat approach angle and tremendous carry, he notched a 3.25 ERA, .157 opponent average and 120 strikeouts in 72 Single-A innings. His rate of 15.0 whiffs per nine innings topped all Minor Leaguers who pitched at least as many frames.
Yordan Alvarez is scheduled to take on-field batting practice today, Dusty Baker said. Would be his first time doing that this spring.

I would probably do it, depending on the return.Ag4life80 said:

My brother and I walked out on the field of the Dome in 1993 pretending we were there for an open tryout one Sunday morning. We made it about 20 minutes into the tryouts before we were asked to leave.wangus12 said:Confidence is powerThe Porkchop Express said:Or man up and walk out on the field like you own the place.redline248 said:
