Mets trolling through the "veteran relief pitchers who are the definition of replacement players" pool. Yeah. Go for it. They will cost $7-10MM each and be the very definition of replacement player. Spend that money Mr. Cohen. Spend it.

Your experience (unfortunately) doesn't surprise me at all and is why I don't mind taking shots at Mariners fans and still enjoy some good old fashioned schadenfreude at their expense. Well, that and especially their pitcher throwing at Jose's head late in the season. I'm sure I'll get over that eventually.

Of course Luis's performance combined with all the other pitching efforts and Jeremy's homer for a great team win were the best parts to remember.

Baltimore fans were pretty snotty in September. I wonder how they'd compare in a playoff setting.

That sucks you had a bad experience in Baltimore. I went to 3 of 4 games and the O's fans were really nice. Bought us drinks after the game on Friday and Saturday night. Had a great time.

Although I haven't been to a road game in 15 years, the best fans I sat amongst were in San Francisco, worst were at Wrigley.

I mean it's part of it and made it that much more fun, especially after the Astros came back multiple times to win a classic barnburner of a game. Altuve's bomb to center early stirred up their fans, and I got booed every time I stood up to cheer/clap afterwards. Some idiots nearby wouldn't stop screaming at us and about how much they hate Houston. Considering the stadium was half empty I wondered what a full one would have been like. All in all it was a great night, but I told my brother to get seats near Houston's dugout next time. LOL

Imagine not scoring a single run in the equivalent of your first two home playoff games in 21 years. Then again I'm sure Mariners fans were just happy to be there.

When I think of that game in Seattle, I think of Luis Garcia. That dude was nails in that game.
He was, but after the game I remember Josh Miller saying the Astros were set up to go 30 innings if they had to. At first I thought bs but after thinking about it realizing that he wasn't kidding.

Write me an article about the New York Yankees moving to Siberia

In a shocking turn of events, the New York Yankees have announced that they will be relocating to Siberia for the upcoming baseball season. The move comes as a surprise to many, but the team's ownership group cites a desire to expand their fan base and tap into the growing market in Eastern Russia as the main reasons for the move.

The decision to relocate to Siberia, a remote and sparsely populated region known for its harsh winters, has been met with mixed reactions. Some fans are excited about the opportunity to see the team in a new location and explore a new culture. Others are questioning the practicality of playing baseball in such a harsh environment, and are concerned about the impact this move may have on the team's performance.

Despite the challenges, the Yankees' ownership is confident that the move will be a success. They have announced plans to build a state-of-the-art stadium in the city of Yakutsk, which will be equipped with advanced heating and cooling systems to combat the extreme temperatures. The team will also be working closely with local officials to ensure that they are able to provide the best possible playing conditions for the players.

The move to Siberia will also have a significant impact on the team's schedule. Due to the time difference and the distance from the rest of the league, the Yankees will be playing a majority of their games against teams from the Far East and Asia, which will bring a new level of competition to the league.

The Yankees' relocation to Siberia will be a big change for the team, and it remains to be seen how it will affect their performance on the field. But one thing is for sure, it will be a unique and exciting experience for both the team and the fans.
It's a bold move and it will be interesting to see how the team will adapt to the new environment and how the fans will react to this drastic change. It's sure to be a season filled with surprises and new experiences for everyone involved.

I think this article might be fake - it didn't mention that Aaron Judge broke the AL home run record at least three times.

We're #1 but the comments seem off. We replaced a 39 year old with a 36 year old who's more productive.

The 2023 team probably has the fewest question marks of any recent Astro team save for 2019.

Agreed.

Relative to last year, JV's 175 CY caliber innings will be eaten by LMJ and Brown. That's ~2-3 games worse... with potential to be a little less if Brown is who we think he is. Odo's 60 innings are replacement level.

Abreu taking over for Yuli at 1B is ~2-3 games better.

Full season of Brantley is better than half season of Brantley + half season of Aledmys/Mancini, but gotta assume the 2023 squad will have an injury or two to cancel that out.

A few of our bats should be better sans shift, but possible Framber/LMJ are a little worse.

Division will be a little better, but not much. Seattle will be our main threat again, but they're not on our level. The Rangers will probably generate some hype early, but they'll fade. Angels and A's are basically irrelevant rn.

All things equal, I'd peg us in the 103-105 win neighborhood. The new schedule with 25 fewer division games spread out among the rest of MLB might cost us a few more though. Last year we did roughly the same in division vs outside, but that was mainly because we KILLED the AL Central.

Revised prediction with all that in mind is right around 100 wins.

I would also expect Yordan, Tucker, and Pena to have bigger and better seasons in 2023.

none of them have reached their apex yet --- still climbing

that's interesting point...

what is the impact of the reduced division schedule (76 games to 52) on the Angels, Mariners, and Rangers?

is that better for them or worse

For me the AL team with the biggest ?? from the new schedule will be Cleveland. That's a bunch of games against bad inter division teams that they can't play and win.

That division is likely only getting the division winner in. All 3 of the contenders (tribe, twins, Sox) will all get a stiffer challenge.
