I saw recently, probably posted here, a thing where Siri was like in the top percent of OF arm strength. That dude legitimately has all the tools...except putting the ball in play. According to statcast, only put the ball in play 15.3% of the pitches he saw.

For comparison,
Tucker was 19.9%
Yordan was 16.9% (ni.ce)
Chas was 16.0%
Myles friggin Straw was 19.2%

Surprisingly, Mike Trout was only 14.2%, but he still barreled 20% of them. Last year Siri only barreled 6%. That is his biggest issue to fix.

Siri has elite defense, speed, & celebrations. No doubt.

1000 yard rusher or receiver has always been a pretty consistent sign of excellence in the NFL.

Regardless of that is true. That doesn't change the fact that both games are wildly different.

yeah I'm not arguing with that, I'm just responding to the statement that there are no consistent historical benchmarks of statistical excellence in the NFL.

The team should actually wear one of the throwbacks during the season. It's been a while since they have

Sure, baseball is different now than in the 60s. But it's not apples and oranges. It's more like Red Delicious apples and Granny Smiths. That to me is what makes baseball's history so much more special than any other sports.

And major league pitchers actually threw breaking pitches before announcers had 15 different ways to describe them and the technology to measure spin rates existed.

It may be one step closer but the rest of the way is a massive minefield that is maintained and updated every year by the Umpire Union. Ind they are strong enough to protect Angel and CB every year.

The equipment has changed. The offensive strategy has. The pitching strategy has. The defensive strategy has. The base running strategy has. The playoff format. The player demographics. The rules have been tweaked. But other than that it's the same.

I will concede your point on that. I don't have much interest in the NFL but I guess it's a lot closer to what it was 60 years ago than college football. Now that's apples and watermelons.

I think a lot of their power is tied to the fact that MLB can't just promote a ton of AAA or college umpires to replace them because they don't have their skillset (or not nearly as experienced).

However, with robots calling balls/strikes suddenly they lose a lot of leverage. Now MLB can promote a ton of young umpires from the minor leagues and college ranks because they won't have to be nearly as skilled. Replay already corrects most of their mistakes on HR calls, fair/foul and safe/out plays. Add in balls/strikes and suddenly the pool widens greatly.

Not sure I'm going to be able to move tomorrow.

But mission accomplished.

I feel like I saw as good or better double plays during this dynasty multiple times

Only LCS game I've ever been to. To this day, my buddy and I talk about the play, yes, but moreso how incredibly slow John Mabry must be to not beat it out.

Nice, last time I tried 400 I got it about a half inch off the ground and bailed out.

Have you tried a trap bar? It's about 10x easier than a barebell.

No, that was going to be my next question though. My gym only has traditional barbells.

Trap bar deadlifts are much easier on the lower back. Most people, in my opinion, have no business doing deadlifts.

I feel that's just how good Everett was at SS. He made the difficult look mundane. I believe Oswalt made a comment about how there were so many grounders he gave up he was sure were hits only to turn around to see Adam scooping it up.

I was also there the day that Carlos Lee decided to hustle in the outfield for the third time in his career and wound up breaking Adam Everett's leg.
