I'd be okay with getting Bauer. With all the **** he's dealt with last couple years I feel like he'd tone done his BS in the clubhouse knowing he's on his last chance basically in MLB. Hell, the league already hates us. Might as well sign him and he could be the teams Dennis Rodman. He could become the fall guy.

The difference is Kobe was well thought of by everyone before this happened. Bauer was being a jerk on multiple different levels and this added a ton of fuel to the fire.

Whether right or wrong I wonder if many players don't want him on the team because of his actions are just like the cheating scandal in that it shines a light to what players are doing in private. I doubt that he is the only one doing crazy freaky stuff like this.

I agree. Well thought of before and after. I think Bauer was considered to be a diamond level dewsh before (and after). Kobe also handled his situation professionally. Had a lawyer write up a well-worded and genuine-sounding apology. He of course continued to be the ultimate competitor and champion and who really knows but it seems like the event changed him. If not, having daughters certainly did.

But at the end of the day, Kobe raped a teenager. You can make a strong argument his stuff was worse than Bauer's.

And that did not stop him from continuing to play, recovering almost all of his endorsements, being almost universally beloved and most importantly having the chance to redeem himself.

For the record, I'd rather the Astros not sign Bauer. But I'd rather them not have signed him before all this, simply because he seems like a DB independent of all of this and would be hard to root for. But the dude can pitch and I'm rooting for him to learn and to change his life.

I couldn't stand Tyler Bauer before all this. I don't know if it's true. If it is, he's despicable. If it's not, then I feel bad he was accused & punished (pocket book & playing time). But still can't stand him.

He's a jackass, a hothead, a person with a really bad personal issue that is socially reprehensible and almost certainly was lying about using spider tack.

But if he can come back from a 1.5 year layoff with the same stuff he had he's going to make someone better. And depending on the team possibly change the playoff teams.

It's a tough place for a team to be in. Do you hold your nose and improve or hold the moral high stance and watch your competition improve?

There's going to be a not insignificant portion of the fan base that won't be OK with that, regardless of whether it's legal or how talented he is. Not worth it IMO.
