Rather have a catcher help the defense than a couple tenths of a percentage point. Get a DH worth a **** and you won't care about the catcher. Most baseball fans can't even add much less understand percentages and ratios.

I'm obviously glad he's here. It's not my money, but if we get Abreu but not JV that's a trade I'm willing to make given our ridiculous pitching depth. I still want JV, Yuli, and Brantley to sign. I'm not sure if we need to go after a CF, I'd be fine with platooning our current options.
I like that with our lineup we are getting more depth when it comes to difficult outs and power. I still think we can sign JV on a short term deal, but I have a feeling that anything north of 100/3 or 75/2 is out of the question from what Crane is willing to extend.

Maybe it's just an opinion but my opinion is I'll take Yuli over Diaz any day.
The original question was what does Yuli bring that Diaz doesn't and the answer was playoff production. Is that not accurate?
Sometimes it's not all about some deep sabermetric stat created by the nerds. They're great and all but sometimes it's not that complicated.

How much playoff production are you expecting from a bench player? 5-10 ABs in Oct is why you want to sign him?
Diaz and Yuli had almost identical averages and on base percentages. Diaz had superior power and plays as good or better at first, second, short, third, and OF.
