Totally agree that the lack of shift will be a huge benefit to Brantley. The biggest concern is his health, but let it be known that he will have a reduced role of approx 130 games in a platoon DH/LF with Alvarez I order to keep him healthy.

Ladies (and some guys) will fork over their savings for a bedroom set they don't need just for that opportunity.

I think after Thanksgiving I'm going to do a '22 season retrospective to count down the weeks until opening day '23.

Kind of sum up each week of the last season to ramp us all the way up for spring training and opening day '23

Another thing on Abreu is that he is Cuban and we have been so very successful with players from there. I would imagine it would be a seamless transition.

If we resign JV (I'd put it at more likely than not) then my suggestion would be to acquire a bat via trade with either Urquidy or Garcia. Some possible fits:

Royals - They have 5 guys sharing C, DH and 1B (Perez, Montero, Dozier, Pasquantino and Pratto). They also desperately need young pitching. No doubt they'd prefer to keep Pasquantino and Montero from that group but that's who I'm targeting if I'm giving up a solid young pitcher. Could you get both? They're lefties so Montero pairs well with Maldy and has enough bat for some DH duties. Pasquantino is our type of hitter with low k, high walks and some pop. Plus everyone raves about him as a clubhouse guy. He's also a lefty so the two pair nicely with a righty DH / 1B if you want to bring Yuli back.

Yankees - You have to pinch your nose for this one but I could see them looking to move LeMahiu to free up money and space for Rizzo and Judge. He's also our type of hitter, though aging a bit. They also have a prospect that is a power bat lefty catcher / 1B in Austin Wells that is a great target.

Dodgers - Less stinky but still not ideal, another team that needs pitching. Miguel Vargas would be the target here. A 1B prospect who has enough speed / arm to play some 3B and corner OF. Similar mold as a hitter to Pasquantino but less proven with more defensive potential.

That would put them on the hook for $100MM for three players between Cole, Correa and Judge. And $1B total for them. Add in Stanton and it's $135 MM and $1.33B. That's a huge chunk for 4 guys.

I'm not sure they are quite in the Dodgers league. The Steinbrenner's have held at least a little restraint. The Dodgers just say FU to the CBT.
